Problems with making Park Reservation on my desired tickets

Hi I’m hoping someone can help me, I haven’t been able to find the answer anywhere. We have two different types of tickets attached to our MDE. Inactivated Annual Passes and 4-Day Stars and Stripes tickets. We are taking a trip to Disney in January and I want to use the Stars and Stipes passes not the APs. We’re saving those for later.

We just went to Disney World in September with 3-Day Stars and Stripes and the inactivated APs and I had no problem making park reservations that were associated with the Stars and Stripes tickets. They have totally changed it since then.

Last night, when I went to make the park reservations I clicked on the “Theme Park Tickets” box since those were the tickets that I wanted to use the reservations with. Then I followed the prompts selecting the day and the park. When I got to the end I was on a “Just A Moment” screen with “The following Guests are Annual Passholders and will need to use the Annual Passholder Reservation System to continue making a theme park reservation.” And a box with “Go to Annual Pass Reservations.” MDE would not let me make reservations with my Stars and Stripes tickets.

I went ahead and scheduled reservations with the APs hoping they would be interchangeable, but I’m going to have to change them since the reservation page said that we need to use the same ticket for park entry that were used to make the park reservation.

Is this a known problem or am I just doing something wrong? I emailed Disney last night, and will try to call later today. I was just wondering if anyone else has run into the same problem. Thanks.

I ran into this last week. The easiest way to deal with it, at least for me, was to move the unused AP to a "dummy" person in my MDE account. Unused tickets and passes can be reassigned easily with MDE, so I have a couple of fake people in my account where I can move unused tickets when I need to. That way only the 4 day ticket I wanted to use was linked to me for park reservation purposes.
