Problems with EA checkout?

Has anyone ever had problems with checking out at the gate with National EA? Last time we rented, the man told me that the contract ID that I used for my discount didn't match the contract ID that they have on file for me. Obviously, it doesn't because I will use different contract IDs depending on the discounts that I am going to get. It was my first time using the EA so I am afraid that it is going to happen every time. We had to drive back around and go inside the booth near the aisles. They did it no problem but I wondering if this has happened to anyone and how I can get the contract ID changed on my profile. I think it was a contract ID that was put in there when I first got my EA card.

Thanks,
Kim

I have rented many times with National (am an Emerald Club member) and have not once used the contract ID I signed up with. Never had one bit of trouble at either check out or return. Never ever had to go back to the counter -

You should not have had any problems as long as you were a member of the "contract ID" group you used and had the necessary ID with you to show the agent if asked.

FWIW, some of the contract IDs/coupon IDs listed on the internet are for specific groups - if a person is not a member, he/she would not be entitled to use the discount. For example, if you do not pay with an American Express credit card, you can't use the American Express discount codes.

Since it doesn't sound like that was an issue, you must have encountered an agent who needs more training. Sorry you had a problem. I don't think you need to worry about it in the future. If you do, try politely requesting that the agent contact his supervisor.

If you are an Emerald Club member, you shouldn't have to use the counter. I never do, even if the reservation says I do (LOL). If an agent can do it at the counter, the agent at the check out booth in the garage can do it too! At least, that has been my experience (and a lot of it is at MCO) and at least one counter agent at MCO told me so, as well.

Best wishes -

Ok, thank-you. I think it was probably the agent. The contract ID on my profile is 5007125 which I think is just a generic EA one? I was using the entertainment book contract ID and coupon so there shouldn't have been a problem. Thanks for making me feel better about next time because I really like the EA and want to use it every time!!

Thanks,
Kim

I have the same code as you on my profile - 5007125 which is Emerald Club. I've used Disney Club or the Carlson code on mousesavers and never had a problem. Usually the Emerald Club code doesn't give you a discount but on my May reservation it gave me a discount, better than any of the other codes.
