Problems with bringing food?

I told a friend I would ask if there were any problems lately with bringing in food to the parks. She is planning on doing PBJ for her little ones for lunch in the parks. I told her that I never had any problem but that it was not allowed officially. Any recent strict enforcements of this rule. I bring water bottles every year too and haven't had any problem.

Not exactly recent, but in August I saw a CM tell a woman that she couldn't bring in a bottle of iced tea (or something like that) because it was in a glass container.

I had a bottle of water and a granola bar in my bag and they didn't care. Just let her know not to bring any glass.

I just got back a few weeks ago and always carried food in my back pack - no problems at all (except the weight!!)

Disney relies almost exclusively on its guests to comply with its "no carry-in meals" policy in the parks. The only things that Disney typically polices in this regard are hard-sided coolers and glass containers.

The current welcome brochure says

You can bring your typical sunscreen, snacks and nonalcoholic beverages along.

WOW! they allow beverages. That surprises me since they like to charge about $3 for a water. I bet if they lowered the cost people would not try to ring it in. I just hate lugging my own into the parks in my backpack.

They allow beverages and snacks. Truly, the only thing they're trying to prevent is folks bringing in full meals.

If you're not bringing in 6 packs of soda, submarine sandwiches and 11 oz. bags of chips; security is pretty tolerant and they don't check bags that thoroughly to begin with. They'll usually have you open your bag, spread a few things around, maybe heft it to see if anything heavy is inside and turn you loose. A few juice boxes or bottled water and a sack of Goldfish crackers aren't going to bother them.

From what I've read, security CMs don't mess around with the enforcement of this policy anyway -- that's done by operations CMs.

When i went last April I had a cooler in the bottom of the stroller with water,juice,yogurt,sandwiches,etc.They checked the cooler and there was no problem.

I'm sure small things will be okay! Like things from the hotel or little snacks you bring on the plane. I doubt they'd allow a lot of snacks, but you can try!

I took a small cooler and a bookbag full of snacks.I never got a negative comment.

Funny that you described that food, because on a recent trip we carried in 6 waters,
submarine sandwiches and a full sized bag of chips. The guy checking bags joked with my husband asking where he could meet us for lunch

We bring lunch in on every trip and have never had a security inspector bat an eye. We put it a a softsided cooler sometimes we rent a locker, other times keep it in the stroller.

You can not bring in a hard sided cooler or glass bottles or alcohol.

Yup, security CMs don't enforce operational policy; they're only looking out for hazards.
