My husband bought me a Keurig for Christmas and I went to make hot chocolate tonight (old fashioned) mix in the cup. Nothing would come out when I pushed the hot water button. It read ready and then nothing you could hear the motor run and the thing moved up as if it was getting the water ready but nothing came out. So I am going to bring it back to Macy's for a new one this weekend.

if you call keurig they will more than likely replace it. You might want to unplug it for at least 10 min & try it without a kcup. I had to do that once. also if you do a hot chocolate kcup you have to run water through after.

I had this happen to mine that I got at Christmas also. I took the whole top apart and ran a paper clip through all of the tiny openings (there should be instructions with your manual) After that, it has never messed up a single time.

I think they must come from the factory with dust or something clogging some of the openings!

Don't bring it back - call the customer service number, they will try to troubleshoot, and if it can't be fixed, they'll mail you a new one. They have amazing customer service.

My keurig broke after 11 months... I NEVER used hot chocolate in it till the week before it broke! Keurig replaced my machine with a brand new one... However she did tell me that Hot chocolate clogs the holes... and they recommend running a clear water cycle after each Hot choco.... I think that is really dumb! They need to change their formula if they know it clogs their machines up! I no longer use the keurig to make Hot Chocolate... I buy powdered and just put water in it from the Keurig...

Not sure why everyone is talking about the Hot Chocolate clogging the machine...she just wanted the hot water from the Keurig the mix was in the mug, at least that is how I read it...so no chance of the hot chocolate clogging anything ;)

I agree with PP just call Keurig as a first step to see if they can help.

OP, I had that happen once just after we got our Keurig. I turned it off and back on and tried again and it worked fine. I think ours had gotten a small clog somehow, but we haven't had a single problem since then.

By necessity, the Hot Chocolate mix is thicker and "clumpier" than tea or coffer would be. That's just how hot chocolate is; if they made it thinner, you'd just have chocolate flavored water. In the manual that came with my Keurig, it said you should run water through the machine once after using each hot chocolate K-cup to avoid any clogs from the thicker mix. It seems an easy solution, to me, when the alternative is to not make hot chocolate k-cups at all. That said, I really don't like the flavor of the hot chocolate, so in my opinion using a mix instead is a much better choice.

Thanks, I unplugged it earlier and will try it again tonight and see. No I did not have a hot chocolate K cup I was just trying to use the hot water from the machine. Hopefully it works

Another thing to try is to just open up the top like you are going to put in a k-cup and then shut it. My machine won't work if it doesn't think that there is a k-cup in there. Good luck!

Why didn't I see that post when I was setting mine up the other night. We followed the direction sheet to a T & the blue mug light wouldn't blink. Finally we opened & closed the top & Viola! But it didn't say to do that in the directions, LOL!!!

We have found with our office one that some of the Swiss Miss hot chocolate cups don't get pierced all the way through. Check and see if the hole in the bottom actually got made. My coworker loves the hot chocolate cups and about every other one she has to make sure she JAMS the cup in there so that the bottom gets pierced. Never have a problem with anything but hot chocolate.

If you re-read her post, you will see she is using a packet of hot chocolate and just trying to get the water from the machine.
It's also a post from 2011, I hope she got her cup of hot chocolate by now. :)
