Problems with 4/3 tickets

Hi all...

We just got back from 7 glorious nights at the Polynesian! However, I did want to share my experience with trying to take the ticket portion off of our room key cards. When we checked in, I went to the Poly concierge desk and asked that the tickets be removed from the room key. The person didn't know how, and asked her supervisor, who stood there for 20 minutes saying that "99% of the time, it screws up the whole reservation when they do this" and that the best thing to do is to keep the tickets on the room key indefinitely. I said I was concerned because nowhere on the room key did it even say there were tickets associated with it, and I bought the 10 day no expire park hopper water parks option, and wanted to be sure that that's what I did get. (We have annual passes this year) He did print off a sheet saying that I did get the correct tickets. I also said that I didn't want to, at some point, throw the room keys away by accident. Again, he basically refused to take the tickets off the room key card. We didn't have the dining package, so if that is a concern with "screwing up the reservation", in our case it wasn't an issue.

I ended up waiting until the day before our check out and went to guest relations at the Magic Kingdom where she had no problem taking the tickets off and giving us the paper tickets. But, she did print our names on them, so for anyone thinking of giving the tickets to family members---wouldn't be able to be done. Not an issue for us as we plan on eventually using them ourselves.

Just wanted to give you all the heads up....

I would take it to the supervisor and say "look! Took 2 minutes. They said any CM at the resorts can do it"

And actually, you can still write to guest relations and tell them about your experience. There was no reason for the supervisor to speak so rudely in front of you. I would mention that too. Sorry you were put through that. I'm glad you had a magical vacation in spite of the problem.

Even though the CM wrote the names on the tickets - why couldn't you still let someone else use the ticket? They don't ask for ID when you put the ticket in the scanner the first time and as long as the same person kept using that same ticket there shouldn't be any problem.

We are going in June with the 4/3 deal and we only got one day base tickets with our package as my son and I have APs. My son's AP will actually expire during our trip and he is not planning on renewing it and I was going to give him my one day base ticket to use. With the days his AP will still be good, his one day base ticket and mine, that would be enough for him to visit the parks all the days we will be there. I didn't think there would be a problem with me giving him my one day base ticket. I was going to have it taken off my room key. Will I be able to do this?

I would think chances are that this will work for you, especially with a one day ticket. However, I will say that last year when my husband went through the gate (after successfully using his ticket quite a few times), it wouldn't go through and he was asked for I.D. and was asked to sign the back of his ticket.

I was told that the tickets are non-transferable, meaning someone else is not supposed to use them?

My understanding is tickets are non-transferable once they are used. Prior to being used, I think they can be. Which would make sense. Otherwise they could never be given as gifts.

Last year I had the same problem getting the tickets removed from my KTTW card. I heard similar stories about when doing the upgrade to the tickets sometimes the CM would wipe out the dining plan from the card. To prevent this from happening everyone said to have the concierge desk take the tickets off the room key. I figured it would have been an easy and somewhat common thing to do. At first I was right. Originally, I was going to upgrade my ticket to an AP. The CM at the concierge desk took the ticket off no problems. Then I did the upgrade at GS at AK. Couldn't have gone any smoother. The next day my sister decided she was going upgrade her ticket as well. She went to the concierge desk and they said it couldn't be done. When my sister said someone did it for us yesterday she went and got the manager. He bascially said the same thing. Later that day we stopped in GS at the MK and asked about it. The CM said she knew about it happening but knew what to do it so it wouldn't happen. She did the upgrade fine. Finally, my sister said she was going to upgrade my niece's tickets too. We were in Epcot this time and the two CM's didn't quite know the process. They totally wiped out the cards. Luckily, it was towards the end of the trip and we still had two other cards that worked. They also came up with some weird price for the two annual passes but we got that figured out. So from my experience I learned to try to get a feel for the CM you are dealing with. If they are unsure then just say thanks and try again another time with another CM who knows what they are doing.

I am truly shocked at how badly the CM's (for alot of different things) are trained. I have heard so many stories and had an experience where I called 3 different times with same question and got 3 different answers. I called back a forth time and finally got the same answer as one of the to others. That should not be happening. That is their jobs and what they are there for....sorry CM's not totally blaming you, Disney have to train you better!

Last December I tried to get the GF CM's to do it and they said they couldn't- that it needed to be done at Guest Services at a park (granted, not only was I trying to get them off the card, I was also trying to get them a day before my package started)

I went to Guest Services at MK and it was handled smoothly. I asked the CM there twice if it would alter my DDP and she assured me it would not.

The next day when I picked up the new KTTK cards (the day our package started) all was well. The keys worked to open the room, all dining info was correct and there were no park tickets on the card.

We had the same problem as the OP and others except we still have the one day on our original key card. We are going next week, and getting another 1 day but no dining only a room key so I will try again plus bring the other 1 days to see if they can be removed. I don't like having a one day that looks like an old key card. I did mark them with a sharpie, but who even knows if they are still a one day. Is there a way to call and check? Hopefully this time I get a ticket and have it removed.

I had the same experience last month, we booked the 4/3 with one day base tickets. My DD and I have APs, but our guest did not, so we upgraded that ticket. Asked the CL cast members if they could remove our tickets to separate media, but they first said no; then said "well, it will still be on a room key, not the card stock", so I said OK, never mind.

I had planned on asking at GS at one of the parks, but forgot. I hope that the tickets are still there by the time we head back to the World! As someone else pointed out, there's nothing on the key that says there are unused tickets coded on them.

I will bring our old unused 1 day passes next week and try to have them removed. If this post is still around I'll let you all know my luck this time.

We had the 4/3 tickets and had no problem with them whatsoever.:confused3 We just returned from WDW a couple of days ago.

We picked the tickets up 3 days early (there's a whole thread about that), so they were taken off the reservation and put onto the regular ticket media.

When we checked in to our 2nd resort (the Poly) I asked the concierge at check-in if she could add them back onto our KTTW cards. It took her about a minute to do this, even though we were told previously that it couldn't be done.

On the 2nd-to-last day of our trip, we decided to upgrade to APs. I took the tickets to GS at the MK and the CM took about 15 mins to take the tickets back off of our KTTW cards, charge us for the upgrade, and reprint our APs on the regular ticket media.

I guess we just got lucky!:)

VERY lucky!! All depends on the CM even with reservations etc. I have had all types of answers. WE couldn't take ours off during free dining, even on the last day. This trip next week we had to add another to dining and different CMs said different things, with some new reservation and res. #, with the other same reservation number and no problem to add one!! Also, when booking another room with our pin. All of a sudden today rooms are out there in any Value and a passholder phone number (not passholder rate but usnig the PIN) but for the last week no rooms at all at any Value. Can't believe all those cancellations in a day!! I HOPE we can have our one day passes removed this trip!! We have the 2 old ones from free dining and these 2 for the $500 gift card. Wish us luck!! Tried 4 times last trip! No go.
