Problem with selling on Amazon

I have been trying to clear out some stuff that I have lying around my house. I have had success selling new things on Amazon.
My daughter got a duplicate toy as a gift and I listed and sold it on Amazon. The box was never opened and I even mailed out an accessory I had for the item that was also bland new and just a plus.
Well, today I get an email that the item I mailed was used and scratched and shows visible signs of use and he wants a refund.
I know what I mailed out and I know that it was never opened, much less used.
What should I do?
Why do people have to be like this?

He did email me photos, but I really could not make anything out in them. I am so mad. I feel like this was a bait and switch and he is going to mail me back a used item that was not what I sent him.
Do I have any case or is this just a lesson learned?

A lesson learned. People complain about paypal siding with buyers, but truthfully Amazon is even worse.

That's what I thought. It makes me sick though because not only did what amazon charge for shipping not cover the shipping, but now I am out the money for all the shipping expenses and packaging as well and I know what I sent him was BRAND New.
I am sure that this was a bait and switch because he emailed me to verify the color of the unit the day I shipped it. Also, this was a child's toy(for elementary school age). Who opens up a child toy during the day when the child is in school?

I guess I just have to suck it up and know that for people like that what comes around goes around.

did you have photos of your item before you sent it? maybe that might help, i always worry about that too, not sure why people do this to other people.
