So... My mother made our HDDR reservation at the 180 day mark for Cat 1 seating. Since then, my sister's travel dates have changed so she won't be with us AND we decided to do a split stay between AoA and WL. To further complicate... Dear Mother reserved for 3 children when in fact two of my stepsons (fraternal twins) will be 10 when we travel. I called to modify our reservation from 5 adults and 3 children to 6 adults and 1 child (basically just going down by 1 in the total number of people).
After being on hold for a looong time, giving both our AoA and WL confirmation numbers multiple times, and speaking with the senior dining CM I was told that because the HDDR ressie falls outside the date of our original AoA stay (but still within our WL stay....) there's nothing they can do over the phone except cancel the entire reservation and rebook (if seats are available). They said the best option was to wait until we checked in at AoA, and explain the situation when we ask for our tickets to be printed. The total price difference was only in the $5 range.... so do I:
1. Keep the original ressie for 5 adults, 3 children? We'd be "short" one person at seating, but still be paying $5 more than a modified reservation. We have the 5 adults, but instead of 3 children we have 1... so I'd basically be paying 2 child tickets for one of my 10 year olds.
2. Try to modify when we get to AoA and hope for the best?
3. Cancel and rebook; therefore losing our "180 Day" seating assignment.
