Problem with Hotwire Savings Club

Last Tuesday I called Hotwire to cancel my membership. On Saturday I received a package from them. It was 10 $25 K-Mart gift cards and 10 $25 Pier I Imports gift cards. They charged my credit card $500. I never ordered any of these. I called and they said I ordered them by phone the day I cancelled my account. Now I have to send them back certified mail. I am so upset about this. They seem to be as bad as Connections.

No, they are Connections (private label version). The difference is your membership is on a month to month basis.

I asked them the same thing. How could I order something I didn't know they had. They said that since they're relatively new they don't have everything up on their website. Didn't quite answer my question though!

It sounds like they must have not closed out your account when the next person ordered. They are probably upset that their certificates have not arrived.

So far I have been pretty pleased with Hotwire. No issues yet!

I am pretty sure that if you cancelled your membership, and they send you something, you are under no obligation to return it to them or pay for it. It may be a California state thing, so I would check by doing a web search (we have a lot of different consumer laws here, like gift certificates never expiring). At the very least, I would call them, talk to a supervisor, and tell them if they want them back, they need to send you a fedex billing number and envelope. I would also dispute the charge with my credit card, and file a complaint with your state attorney general. Under no circumstance would I pay to send it back - send it COD if need be!!! Their mistake shouldn't become your problem, but it always seems to...
