Hi,

I am having an issue with my American Bank Account through Scotia Bank. My American Bank account is not connected to my debit card (they don't connect american savings accounts to the debit card:confused3 . So now my dilemma is that I don't want to have all the money in my account on me....but that seems to be the only option I have since I can't access it through debit. I really don't want to have to carry a large amount of cash or travellers cheques on me.

Any ideas?

If you don't want to carry all that money or traveller cheques put it on a prepaid credit card and or some or all on our key at Disney.

All we ever do is take a small ammount of cash and the rest TC's we never carry more than a hundred bucks combined and lock the rest in the room safe and take more as we need it. You are only carrying it from home to Disney then you don't have to carry it any longer.

I asked BMO this morning about a US dollar credit card. They have them and offer the same airmiles as I get now. Only thing you need to pay in US dollars. So I'm going to get the cc so I don't have to worry about carrying a bunch of cash. I'll throw a bunch of money on it before I go and then hopefully not have a huge bill when we get home.
If you use Canadian cc then there is a fee on top of exchange rate charged. Having the US card eliminates that charge. And still earns airmiles.
Why didn't I know I could do this last year. Oh well learn something new everyday.

I do this too...
I have an RBC USD Visa Card as well as a USD account. I put some USD on the acct before I leave and the final bill isn't nearly as painful on check out day!:scared1:
