Probably TMI, but anyone else have skin problems at WDW?

During our last couple of trips to WDW, I had an issue with skin chaffing. The first time it happened, I thought it due to the heat and humidity. But on my last trip, it wasn't all that warm and not humid at all. Yet it still occurred. What happens is after a couple of days, I start to get very sore on my rear end, right where my cheeks meet my upper thighs. I feel like I've been whipped raw. After several days, it becomes very painful. Baby powder seems to help, but the relief is short-lived. DH thought it was humorous and referred to it as my 'diaper rash,' until he began to get a little sore on our last day too. Has anyone else ever experienced this? I'm starting to think maybe it has to do with the hardness of the water at the resorts? :confused3 I live in hot and humid Virginia and I've never had this problem at home. I've also never had it while traveling anywhere else. Any suggestions for preventing it? I've got a trip coming up in May and I don't want to have to deal with this again.

One word for you........BODYGLIDE!!!! www.bodyglide.com

It works in the same way of deoderant. You rub it on potentially problem areas (inner thighs, feet, etc...) and be sure to do it BEFORE you start your day. It works preventatively. I always get blisters in WDW, but when I used bodyglide last summer, I was BLISTER FREE!!!!! Amazing.

Here in Canada, we can buy it in the runningroom store. Do you have that store in the US? Good luck!!

I've never heard of that store, but I have a co-worker who is a runner. I'm going to ask her about it tomorrow! Thanks. :thumbsup2

It's so funny that you brought this up. I was just telling my doctor last week that every time I go to WDW I break out with hives on my legs! It's the most bizarre thing! I can't figure out if it's from the water or the sheets or why only on my legs. I don't get it. But it's happened on my last 3 trips. And what is even more weird is that I have never gotten hives any where else! Hmmm...

That is odd, too. I've woken up with bites on my legs on past trips, but after asking housekeeping to change the bedding, it stopped. I guess WDW is not only magical, but mysterious as well. :scratchin

DH used Body Glide last trip, and it worked like a charm. Sporting goods store had it as runners use it.

Another vote for BodyGlide! I have a horrible time w/ that problem, the trip a couple times ago by the 2nd day I couldn't walk at all and was in tears. Horrible. The BodyGlide works like a charm and it's small enough to carry w/ you in case you need to apply again. (but usually once in the morning does it for me)

Could be the infamous 'no-see-ums'; lots of people get their legs bitten by them at WDW, primarily because they are walking around a lot more than usual with shorts on.

The wet rides could also play a role. If you like the water rides and walk around/sit in wet clothes this could cause a rash. My boys always seem to get a rash on their checks/neck/shoulder area. Maybe heat rash? The year we went in December it looked like a strep rash but they never got sick so we just waited it out. Hoep you get it figured out. :scratchin

Bodyglide REI and other hiking stores sells it as well .DD will be using it as she always has this problem as well.I think it's the up and down of sitting that causes it .At home your either up or sitting at WDW your like a yo-yo.

Try the Bodyglide. Also take a look at your underpants (not to get too familiar ;) ). Does the leg elastic hit on the spot where you get the chafing?? Maybe a combo of the sheets(?laundry soap), more walking, perspiring, and nylon in the underpanst elastic all interact. My guess is the increased amount of walking one does at WDW is probably the biggest culprit.

I find if I do get "chaf-y" I put some A&D Ointment on at night, don't wear underpants  and it settles down. Then do the Bodyglide during the day, since it won't get on your clothes.

Good luck!!! There's nothing worse than chafing!!!!!

The same thing has happened to me twice (one at Pop & one at All Stars). I had to change rooms! Also happened at a Holiday Inn in Orlando as well. It is not the no-seums.. I live in FL & am always walking around in my shorts.

Yes, that's exactly where I have the problem. This next trip, I will definitely try the BodyGlide. Thanks everyone!! :teeth:
