We are at WDW over Xmas and New Year, I am going to sort out the tickets this week and have a quick query. If we buy the 2012 Ultimate tickets will they work for the days we are there in 2013?

Yes it will work. If it's a 14 day pass for example, it will not work after January 14th 2013. You can use it for 14 consecutive days starting from the first day you use the ticket in 2012.
