But how do you pronounce Biergarten? I was trying to make a reservation for Rose and Crown, last minute, and of course there was no availability, but the CM said he had availability at "Bogaton" was how he pronounced it. I had no idea what he was talking about, and then he said Germany! I always thought it was more like "Beergarten":lmao:

You are right with the pronunciation. Prehaps the cm you spoke to was unsure of it too! It's german for a garden of beer! Which was usually an outdoors plaza where you could buy beer.

haha!! I always say beer-garten ... it's all about the beer after all! :rotfl2:

Thanks! I feel better now! When he said "Bogaton" I said, "I don't think I'm familiar with that." I was stunned there was a restaurant in WDW I hadn't heard of!:rotfl2: Then he said in Germany and the light bulb went off!

You're right, Brenda, it is all about the beer! We're just back last night, so I need to get caught up on your report. Just have to say, we loved The Ditch:thumbsup2!

I'm only halfway through my reviews (par for the course) so no need to rush. I'm so glad you had a good trip and enjoyed the Ditch! Can't wait to get back there ... purely for research, of course!

I pronounce it Beer Garten too. Not to say that is right. :lmao:
Sanaa and Le Cellier are a few others that I have heard pronounced various ways.
Sometimes I refer to Chefs de France as Chefs. I catch myself as I have had a few people think I was talking about Chef Mickey's. :rotfl2:

I studied German for 4 years in high school and my DH is German. Everyone who said it is pronounced "Beer-garten" is correct. As the PP's have said, it means garden of beer...."Bier" = Beer, and "garten" = garden.

Agreed. The CM who booked my reservation pronounced Sanaa like "sauna." I always thought I was meant to put the emphasis on the second syllable, like the way actress Sanaa Lathan pronounces her name. sa-NAH. :confused3

I've always put the emphasis on the middle syllable, not sure if it's right, though! And I think I remember reading Sanaa has the emphasis on the second syllable, like Sweet Melissa said.

I have heard Sanaa like Santa, without the "t". (First time I heard it that way I thought they did say Santa.  )
Then I have heard Sauna. And I think even Seine-I. Probably I have heard Sa-NAH too. :rotfl2: Think I will just call it "that place in AKLV". ;)

For some reason I got so tickled picturing you on the phone, like "huh?". I say:

BEERgarten
SaNAH
NarCOOsee
LeCelliAY

Hopefully they are at least close! ;)
