Wondering what everyone experiences are with this product line.

It was OK, but we did not have severe acne. The problem is that they send you stuff monthly and it is too much.

If you do try it, make sure you call and tell them the rate of sending the stuff.

That is my complaint with them.

I thought it worked great, loved the product. I stopped using it about 3 years ago and have not had to use anything else.

I do agree with them sending too much. I had a linen closet full of the stuff!

It didn't work very well for me. But I have since found out that I have a connective tissue disease in addition to mild acne. So, the Proactive actually irritated my connective tissue disease.

Subscribing.

I am using Murad right now and my face looks awful (I tried it before and it really helped, so I don't know what the heck is going on, but I am so broken out on my chin).

I haven't tried Proactive.

Works well for me, but I can only use it for a couple of days, then I need to take a couple of days off because my skin is too sensitive.
If possible, I'd go to your local mall and look for a kiosk/vending machine with it, so you don't get it sent every 3 months. It takes me years to go through a set!:rotfl:

We use Proactive but we do not have severe acne, just the occassional pimple, but it keeps our skin clear. I hated their customer service department and I refuse now to do mail order through them. We are lucky enough to have a few malls in Orlando that have a kiosk, so we just buy what we need there.

I'm interested in reading others' experiences. I've been curious about it, but it's sulfur based and can't use it due to my allergies.

My oldest DS who has severe acne tried it.

He said it dried out his skin for the first week or so then worked great. But he also said that once he stopped using it, the acne came back even worse.

I know that Wal Mart carries their own brand of this for about half the price.

DD used it and it helped for a while and then her acne started up again and it wasn't working for her at all. I bought a store brand at the grocery store for her to try called Acne Free. Its half the cost of Proactiv and works great!

I don't have bad acne. I would just break out a bit every once in a while, and it drove me nuts. I liked how clean my face felt after using..but it really dried me out.

DD14 tried it, had mild acne on the sides of her face and forehead. Cleared it up, she hasn't used anything in months. No more pimples.
DD13 tried it, same issues, acne on forehead and sides of face.. Worked great for about 2 months then came back. Proactive no longer works. I have bought just about every OTC cream since then, but nothing works. Her case isn't enough to warrant a dermatologist visit and she can cover it up with makeup (Neutrogena which has acne meds in the makeup). I'm sure it will clear up on it's own. DH had it when he was a teen and grew out of it.

So in the same family, it worked differently. I would recommend giving it, or one of the kits you can buy at WM at shot. I believe they both have the same active ingredients.

My cousin has terrible acne. She doesnt have insurance so she uses proactive. It clears her up some but her skin is so bad she really needs something from a doctor. But it DOES clear her up to a point where she feels ok going in public.

THANK YOU so much for posting this!! I was about to order and read this first. I'm allergic to sulfa drugs.

Anyone know if Walmarts one (Acne Free) has sulfa in it too??

I used it for nearly six months and it didn't help me. I wouldn't recommend it.

Remember the main active ingredient in Proactiv is benzoyl peroxide. I'm allergic to it, so I can't use Proactiv. So, I first recommend buying some benzoyl peroxide, ie Clearasil and see if you react prior to buying it. I used Clearasil once and my whole face was so red, swollen and itchy after it was awful! I only put a few dabs on also, so definitely double check.

I did not have severe acne, just an occasional break out. I have used it everyday for three years without any problem...I stop using it for a couple of months and the break outs returned so I started using it again :thumbsup2

It will ruin every towel you own. It bleaches out colored towels and leaves brown spots on your whites. Ugh!

My son's girlfriends both use it and two sets of towels are done for.

Just a warning
Edie

I have sensitive skin, but I tried it because I was having a problem with breakouts. The acne cleared up, but within 3-4 days I had terrible burns on my chin/neck which took about 2 weeks to clear up.

I used it a few years ago and had good luck at first, but it seemed that after some time it didn't do the job :confused3

My skin was clear for some time without using anything special, but recently I've had a few troubles and decided to try Acne Free. It works great, has me mostly clear in a couple weeks and it doesn't dry me out. Best thing is I can buy it at the grocery store :thumbsup2
