Has anyone here had any experience w/ Proactiv? I'm considering using it, but would like to get some "reviews" first. I don't have bad acne, but my skin also isn't extremely great so I'd like to clear it up & a friend of mine that uses proactiv loves it & has great skin. Anyone have any advice as far as Proactiv? (and by advice i dont mean see a dermatologist, I already know that they recommend you see a dermatologist 1st)

There's a thread on this very subject at least once a week. ;)

I've used it and didn't like it at all. It dried up my skin really badly and actually made it worse. Others have loved it though.

It's the ONLY thing that cleared up my acne after years of trying.

Really? How bad was your acne? Like I said I dont really have bad acne I just get the occasional zit or blemish or however you'd like to refer to it. Like my skin isn't really bad, but its definitely not great either, I really would like to clear it up & have that "celebrity" type skin (not meant to sound conceited lol).

I love this site and dont buy any beauty product without checking here first.

2nd link im giving you is the link to reviews for several different acne treatments.
My ds tried lots of things out there and the only thing that really worked was going to the Dr. He took an antibiotic and used Differin cream. Worked like a charm.

Makeupalley also has a great skincare board.

If you just have the occasional blemish... i love Queene Helene mint mask... super cheap get it at walmart, it has fab reviews. Also Asprin Masks work great... also cheap!

I considered it moderately bad I guess. I'd get those cyst-like pimples. It might be overkill if you have only the occasional blemish. I used only the cleanser because when I used ALL the steps it dried my skin too much.

Just have to pipe in and say how much I love makeup alley! I'm on that site almost as much as DIS...almost!

As for skincare - I find what works best for me is the drugstore stuff. I use Cetaphil to wash my face and use tea tree oil to zap zits and that works the best. Tea tree oil doesn't smell the best but for me - they are gone within a day. I'll take that smell over gross skin any day!

My son uses this. His was getting quite bad and it has been 2 months and it looks much better. I think that he gets lazy and it seems to come back. When he is consistent it clears up.

Yea I guess I would say mine is probably similar to that. I get a couple of the "cyst-like" pimples every now & then, but honestly I think my biggest problem is actually the reddot like marks that i get that actually almost looks similar to razor-burn. The "cyst-like" ones usually are no problem and go away within a day or two. I've found that the apricot scrub works really well as far as preventing and/or quickly getting rid of the "cyst-like" pimples, but it doesn't really do a whole lot for the red "dots" and smaller blemishes. I guess basically what I'm saying is that the apricot scrub is great for the more obvious, bigger problems but isnt as effective on the smaller less noticable stuff.

DD used it for a while. It did dry out her skin way too much. She's now using an over the counter step program I got at the local pharmacy. So far its working well and it doesn't dry her skin out like the Proactiv did.
