Private vs. Shared Shuttle, and other questions

Our flight arrives at LAX at 4:40 pm on a Friday. I'm concerned about traffic at that time (but the departure time worked really well, so what can you do?). There are 5 of us -- 2 adults, 2 teens and a 9 year old. I was thinking I'd do the private shuttle, mostly because we haven't had the greatest success with shared. Our first trip (long ago) we were on a Gray Line bus so crowded that we had to stand. When I used SuperShuttle a few years ago on a business trip, we had to stop at several personal residences to drop people off before we got to the Anaheim area. My feeling is that at that time of day, with 5 people already, we might as well go for the private shuttle (almost the same price).

Anyone have any opinions on this? I'd be willing to surprise the family with a limo, but can't find one reasonably. Would go with a taxi van, but afraid all that sitting in traffic would make the price unreal. Any favorite shuttle companies?

How soon do we need to book? We're not arriving until early June, but I have my flight times and we're flying Southwest, so they shouldn't change.

I haven't flown into LAX for a few years, we always fly into LGB. There is a flat rate for the taxis from Long Beach to DL, maybe there is a flat rate from LAX to DL? With 5 people I would think a shuttle would be expensive as I think they charge per person. I think the Disneyland Bus goes to LAX, again I am not sure. I am not very helpful :lmao:

I've done Super Shuttle as a non shared for party of 5.
It was MUCH nicer, I made a reservation but found out didn't need it at LAX. Just tell the person in the blue shirt that you want an exclusive van service.
It's $107 for exclusive, 5 people on shared van is $80.

Though with 5 people... it might be okay for shared service. There's not much room left in the van with your party aboard.

The late night arrivals (after 10 pm) are the worse when it comes to shoving as many as possible in a van. That's where you end up touring half of orange county before you arrive at your hotel at 3 am :faint:
