We are renewing our vows 8/27/07 at the Wedding Pavillion and then having a dinner in the Sonoma Room at the California Grill. We have our menu all set. Has anyone ever attended a private event there and if so do you have any comments? We are celebrating 35 years of marriage with 14 family and friends. The fireworks are scheduled for 10 PM over the castle. We have the room from 6:30PM through 10:30 PM. :cloud9:

I have never eaten in the Private Dining room at the California Grill, but I wanted to say that your celebration sounds lovely.
Congratulations and have a wonderful day.

I agree. It sounds wonderful. Congratulations.

I have seen private parties in that room. It looks like a great time.

I"m not sure where the Sonoma Room is exactly. If it's the one I'm thinking of with the wine stored in it I think that's on the opposite end of MK and wouldn't have a view of the fireworks at all.

The room you're speaking of is called the wine room on the DIS and now even at CG.

I think the Sonoma Room is the private room that is down the hall where the restrooms are. I don't know if you can see the MK from it (I would think the windows would look toward Bay Lake only) but there is another outside deck right by it. Very easy to stroll out at 10pm.

I think it's where we've eaten for Food & Wine Signature Dinners at CG. If it's the room I'm thinking of, it's lovely and has a superb view of the fireworks. Enjoy!

We had our rehearsal dinner there on July 11th, 1997. We did the same thing and coordinated dinner so everyone would be able to go outside for the fireworks just after dessert and it was amazing! You definitely won't be disappointed.

Congratulations on your upcoming anniversary!!

The wine room is the one I'm thinking of. But any room down the hall near the restrooms would have the same view just of Bay Lake, not the fireworks.

As I said, I wouldn't think the room I've seen would face Wishes either. But I think the view would actually be slightly different than the Wine Room. The floor has angled windows at the ends. The room I'm thinking of would have either windows that faced East or NE or both. The wine room windows face SE...I think.:rotfl:

But punkin had a definitive answer for us. Curious where the Signature dinner that Elizabeth enjoyed was held. I can't picture another room up there.

Anyway, it sounds like a fantastic way to celebrate, Maureenmac! Congratulations.

Thank you everyone for your answers. We have three great things happening in the next months. Our older son is getting married June 30, 2007. We have the Vow Renewal the end of August and our younger son is getting married Dec. 30, 2007.

Sonoma is on the NE corner of the CG with windows facing away from MK.HOWEVER,the is a balcony w/i 10-15 ft. from which yo can see the fireworks with outside speakers that pump in the music. Enjoy yourselves!

CM1972, thanks for the clarification.

And welcome to the DIS!!!:dance3:
