Shoreside just called to inform me of a new special Remy 8 course dinner. The dinner is limited to 20 guests and is mostly seafood. Price is $650 per person....

I'm going to pass.

Alcohol included in that? A high-end pairing or something?

All I can say is maybe there are people that are asking for something like this????
$650 a person..... stop no never.... Just can't wrap my head around it.

ok, i like "high end" dinners but there are few foods & wines that I can think of that i'd be willing to indulge in for $1300 (could never exclude my wife).

What possibly could be the courses? Maybe they are opening and serving their bottle of 1961 Château Latour ?

So much for Walt's concept of "a place where children and parents could have fun together." Yeah, OK, this was directed at why he built Disneyland, but the whole "Disney concept" is for families to do things together.

This just makes it more obvious that the current powers that be are out for the big bucks.

Yes and takes nickel and diming to a whole new level.

To be fair, Remy isn't for kids under age 18 anyway. Now there of course are "children" much older than that who may be sailing. And they can still have fun together, it will just cost something if they want to enjoy THAT experience. You can still have fun in any of the other dining rooms or with room service if you so choose.

I just mean, it appears that Disney is taking the whole "Disney experience" away from a family concept. And trying to aim more to adult pursuits (and charging an arm & a leg for it).

I'm interested to know what's on the menu, personally. I've seen high-cost limited menus at restaurants here in NYC ($500+ pp) and in other places. Seriously curious!

IDK the new princess tea on the ships is aimed at kids...but it also charges an arm and a leg (just a smaller child's size arm). I think what's consistent is Disney is jacking up their prices to truly top shelf luxury expenses. I personally think the flaw is they are attempting top shelf pricing while continuong to use mass market approaches and that almost never works.

I agree. It just seems that upping the cost of so many things (adult or kid) is just taking the whole experience availability out of the reach of the "regular" family.

MY son and his wife are paying that much to eat buffet food in Olive Garden NYE in New York with an open bar. Apparently they may be allowed out to watch the ball drop in a secure area if the NYPD allow it! Now I think that's nuts! I'd take Remy over that any day, but in reality I'll take neither and save my money!

Well, it's definitely an upsell. It's only for twenty people, anyway. :)

I know they mentioned Norwegian lobster and halibut. And champagne. Lots of seafood ( I told them immediately that I don't eat pork).

I balk at paying that much to cruise on DCL. No way I'm doing it for a single meal.
I think it's so disheartening that DCL and the parks seem to have forgotten or don't care that most families with young children don't usually have a large amount of disposable income.
