Has anyone done a private photo session. I know there was once a dvc discount for them. The dvc website is not avail at the moment for me to check. But I was wondering if any dvcers have done one & if so how they liked it.

Our family will be down there in Nov. celebrating DH & my 30th wedding anniv. I thought it would be a great keepsake.

We did it a few years ago at the GF. The photographer was nice but not very experienced. He took us to a couple of their shoot locations but they were occupied so we just took some shots inside and out. The quality of their photos were no better than the photos that I take.

We did family pics in Jan 2010 at Poly. We were really happy. We did pics at 3 difference locations - inside Poly, outside Poly and on beach. The pics were great. I added the extra time, but we didn't really need it - kids too little/tired. However, we did get some really cute pics for what added up to around $100 - so not much. It's hard for us to get pics with everyone in them with little ones, so it was good to have someone take the pictures. She had pictures of each kid on their own, the kids together, me and each kid, dad and each kid, and then full family... for me, it was worth $100 to have them all on a CD.

I think a independent company does it now. It use to be part of photo pass. No more buying extra time and price is lots higher....

Mixed reviews huh? Well, maybe I will just bring what I would want us all to wear IF we do one, and just decide when we get there.

Thanks to everyone for the candid reviews!

We did one of the PhotoPass portrait sessions about 18 months ago. Unfortunately I think they have been discontinued.

That had a 20% DVC discount taking the price down to $80 for (IIRC) 20 minutes of photographer time. We had our pics taken at the Beach Club and they came out very nice. Had a number of them with BoardWalk in the background...walking on the beach...up near the dock, etc.

I can see how the quality of the photographer can impact the photos. Our photog was great and we were very pleased with the outcome.

About 10 years ago we did a more professional photo session through Disney. I believe Disney Event Photography was the name of the division. They are the ones contracted out for weddings and other formal events on property.

That was much more expensive. It was over $200 for an hour of time...and that was back in 2002. They had access to theme park destinations for the photos, every park except Hollywood Studios. We simply did ours at Old Key West because it was a departure day and we did not have park tickets. Again the photos were nice but being at OKW there wasn't much of a Disney feel to them.

The professional option is still available but cost is more like $250-300 these days.
