HI!
I'm looking forward to a trip with my family at BWV soon.

Here is my idea. Actually - if I lived in Orlando I would try to start up a business just like this. Can someone tell me if this exists?

I am picturing coming home from a long day at the parks with my family and opening up my villa door to find that a nice family dinner has been prepared for us and the table has been set; drinkd are just being poured....

I am wondering if there are any private chefs who have made a business of coming to a specific resort (a villa w/ a kitchen) in the morning so that I could give them our key (or better yet, couldn't I just leave a key at the front desk with the chef's name and permission for that person to pick up the key?). The chef arrives with all his/her equipment and food from a menu that we've selected. While we are having fun at the parks our chef is preparing our family-style meal which we have agreed to be done by the time we get home that evening.

If this does not exist - wouldn't it be a great business? Wish I lived in Orlando!

In any case - does anyone out there know if ther are private chefs that have this type of system available. I assume that Disney could do it - but it would cost a fortune. I'm looking for someone who could make lasagna and a salad - or something simple.

I don't think Disney would permit this to be set-up as a business. They do not permit off-site caterers to handle the convention business that stays at their hotels (this is common among all hotel operators). In fact, catering is usually a large part of the income from convention events.

Could you find an individual to come do this one a one-time basis? Possibly. Could a permanent business be set-up without contracting through Disney? I highly doubt it.

Yes, there are personal chef services available in Orlando- some have been discussed in this forum in the past. I don't have any links handy, but am sure someone may be able to report.

While Disney isn't likely to sanction/endorse anyone other than their own CM's for a service like this, they are unlikely to prohibit someone from contracting for the service independently (think- pizza delivery, ECV services).

Hopefully someone can provide some more detail. I'll try to find the links when I get home on Sunday.

Enjoy!

... you may have just given Disney one..!;)

Love this, especially for check in day...no more hot dogs and pringles!:sunny:

Great idea, but I don't think it would work. I am basing this on the assumption that many DVC members are in the same financial class as we are. To hire a private chef to come to the villa, prepare the food, cook the food, serve the food and clean up is probably not an expense I could afford added to what we are already spending on vacation. I doubt a private chef would come cheaply. If I want someone to do the cooking, it would probably be less expensive to have a nice sit down meal in a nice Disney restaurant.

Our bigest problem is finding enough time to eat at all of the restaurants that we want to at Disney. It would take me at least three weeks to eat at all the restaurants that I want to. Breakfast is usually something from the Boardwalk bakery (don't forget those refill mugs) and then one big meal and one small meal. Our biggest challenge is not to gain 30 pounds in one week which I could easely do if I ate all that I wanted.

For that special meal at home try Disney private dining.

I too have read past reports where people talked about haveing a personalchef for Holiday type dinners...I'm sure they would do any time..
