Private mixology on PORT days now?

This crew has been cruising together in different iterations, for about 7 years, it appears. We came on board 3 years ago and picked up a ton of new people this time.

Sure does feel like it. We have over 450 registered people in our group, and when doing a survey of the people (kids, spouses, family members, travel companions, etc.) not listed in the group who are traveling with said people, it comes to almost 800 people last I checked, give or take. We have, if I recall correctly, 5 or 6 private mixology classes and at least one of everything else available. We also are doing an open bar thing for meetup last I heard, as well as bracelets, etc. We have something like 10 FE groups plus a Pixie Dust group, an adult group and a bunch of other stuff.

Wow! I used to participate in a lot of that stuff but skipped it all on my last cruise. No FE, no meet & greet, no private classes, etc and it was the most relaxing cruise I've had. It was very nice not having to deal with any of that.

It's not like I organize anything. I once headed the fastest growing single model automotive club in the USA for two years. I'll never organize anything ever again after that nightmare. I let everybody else do the organizing and all I do is show up. I don't FE, so I'm just a leaf on the wind. :D

I can confirm that private mixology classes were recently moved to Port Days only by DCL for our upcoming Magic seven day EC in December 2016.

On our January B2B Dream cruise, they organizer was told the following:

"We regret to inform you that we no longer offer mixology on sea days, please check with group if any of the port days will work, maybe the latest time around 4pm?

Otherwise, the option to just sign-up onboard if they will offer sea days."

Just off a 4-day Dream, they did inform us that the max for the private sessions was reduced to 25 (from 30) but because we had already gathered and sent in the groups, they would allow ourselves up to the originally communicated 30. Nothing was said about any change from sea days which we had both ours run.

I just received some bad news for our upcoming January Magic cruise:
Hi Sandra,

I have requested sea day for your mixology, but unfortunately we can only do it on either Grand Cayman Day or Castaway Cay Day, maybe around 4pm - 5pm? Please let me know if your still want to proceed?

Thank you,

Alma

Do it Grand Cayman day. A lot of people don't go ashore in Grand Cayman.

I bet that's when everyone will want to do it.....kind of stinks though. Wish it were on a sea day.
I rather imagine DCL has more bartenders available for mixology classes on a port day than a sea day. On a port day, not all the bars/lounges are active, while on a sea day they are.

I'm going to email Alma the end of this week our list of mixology participants for our mid January cruise on the Fantasy. We will see what she says regarding port/sea days. When I emailed her 3+ weeks ago regarding this she said the 'issue' was only with the Magic. Odd....
