We are in the beginning stages of planning a trip for next April (Easter Week)
We went 2 yrs ago and stayed at Orange Lake and loved it, the friends we rented from there are using there weeks this year.

We will be doing 4 days at Disney and 2 days at Universal.
It will be 2 Families together 4 adults and .......8 kids, ages 4-11.

We have been researching many private rentals on VRBO and have found some that seem perfect.

Does anyone have any personal experience with private rentals? Any one they would recommend? Thinking needs to be 5-6 bedroom..also trying to keep price below $1300....for Sat -Sat

I am just beginning to be overwhelmed not only by the amount of houses but also locations etc...

Thanks in advance as I am sure this is something that is asked often

I now realize the home I recommended to you on the other forum won't work since it is only set up for 10 people.

The communities that tend to be closet to Disney (ie. Windsor Hills, Windham Palms, Emeral Island, Sunset Lakes, etc.) tend to be more expensive. You are going at what is considered a holiday time of the year when places charge peak prices. Most places in this area are either over your budget or already booked. Please also note when determining prices that most do NOT include the tax rate which is 13%. I did find one that appears close to your budget in Emerald Island:

You may want to consider staying in the Davenport or Clermont areas as there appears to be more available. Here are some homes in the Davenport area:

Aviana subdivision:

Sandy Ridge:

Solana:

This following home is in the Clear Creek section of Clermont:

Please check out the following thread which discusses advantages of staying in Davenport and Clermont:

I have been researching extensively myself as I'm trying to keep our trip in March low budget. We are traveling one month before you and most of the places I've found with great prices are already booked.

Once you determine where you want to stay, I would urge you to book it as soon as possible since you are traveling at a peak time of the year and many places are already booked.

This forum is wonderful for asking questions about off site recommendations.

Good luck planning your trip and give us an update when you find a house. :goodvibes

We stayed her last February and are staying here again next February. It is in Davenport but it is an easy drive on I-4. http://www.vrbo.com/46990 We paid $875 including taxes, fees and pool heat. It is advertising $1000 for holiday weeks. The owners were really good to work with.

The more I look at the Davenport area, the more I'm considering staying there for our next trip. The prices are wonderful!

Does Grand Reserve have a community pool? I've seen some homes in there with beautiful lake views. I don't think my kids would mind not having the community pool, but just thought I would ask.

Have you stayed in any other areas of Davenport that you would recommend?

Thanks for all your help on this forum! I truly appreciate it.

Grand Reserve does not have a community pool. We have stayed in several areas of Davenport. We have stayed off of 27 at Regal Palms and Solana Resort (Solana has a community pool). We also stayed near I-4 exit 58 in Windwood Bay and now Grand Reserve. You will find that the homes in this area tend to have a lot of permanent residents and the communities do not tend to have community pools. We liked both locations (27 and off of I-4) and wouldn't hesitate to stay in either place.

Here is a review I did a while back regarding the Solana resort, but it also gives some information about the area.

Here is a review of the Champions Gate area (off I-4), again it is a review of the house we stayed in, but it also gives some info about the area.

The longest it has every taken me to get to any of the parks is 20 minutes - it always feels a lot quicker than that. I figure the extra 10 minutes it takes me to get to the parks is worth the hundreds of dollars I can save by staying a little further out.

Here is a map of the villa community locations in case you don't have one of your own.

Good luck.
