There seem to be so many of these neighbourhoods out there each with its own pros and cons.

I can find lots of homes and villas to rent but think we will end up missing the extra amenities of some of the larger timeshare resorts that we have stayed at over the last few years.

Can someone tell me a little more about a few of the home complexes that have extra amenities that would be suitable to a mutli-generation party travelling to Florida in March 2006.

Looking for which are closest to Disney and Universal, which have large pool comlpexes, water parks, kids play centres, restaurants, etc.

Thanks in advance...

there's a great map at www.vrbo.com and www.orlandovillas.com they also have message boards over there where owners can greatly help you out.

We rented two villas lastyear and had a gerat time , but we dont really use the extra.. we had our own heated pool and that's all we needed. There were 19 of us, 9 kids and 11 adults.

Have a great time!

We have only stayed at Windsor Palms but I know that it had more than just homes and condos in the development. I believe WP, Emerald Island, Regal Palms and Windsor Hills all offer community ammenities in addition to what each home or condo offers. At WP we had a community pool, fitness room, playground, small movie theather, basketball and tennis courts. I believe the other resorts offer similar things but Windsor Hills and Regal Palms have larger water areas with more choices than just a pool. I don't know of any on-site restaurants...just a little convenience shop. Windsor Hills and Regal Palms still have construction going on though I think and Regal Palms is further out. WP and EI are very close to WDW and not too far to Sea World or Universal. I dont think you will find any that are closer to Universal.

There are many people here who are very familiar with these developments who should be able to give you more info than I can. We loved WP and also went with 3 families when we stayed there. (We rented two 4-bdr. homes) Everyone loved it....there seemed to be something for everyone and gathering all of us together at one home to meet was so much easier than squeezing into hotel rooms.

I know that two developments share resort amenities with a condo development...Highgrove - north of the 192-27 junction - has villas that when you rent there, you can use the resort facilities at Bahama Bay...just south on the 27. Highlands Reserve - south on the 27 - shares resort facilities with Regal Palms.

I know there are more more towards the Champoins Gate area as well. HTH!!

We own a home in Emerald Island resort. The resort is a gated community that houses both condo and seperate pool homes. The resort has a club house with a few ammenities. Sauna room, cyber cafe, gym, game room. On the grounds is a pool and hot tub, volleyball sand court, tennis courts, playground and walking path. If you rent from some one in EI you are allowed to use all the facilities.
We have our own pool and spa at our home and I personally have not been in the club house pool. We have used the sand pit for digging and volley ball. The walking path and grounds are beautiful. Here are some pictures of the resort.

EI is located less then 3 miles fron AK. The easy way to get to the disney loop is the Sherberth Rd./Entry Point Blvd. This rd is off 192.

Take a look on this map of 192 and you can become familiar with the area. The area has lots to choose from for restaurants and there is a couple of stores for food and odds and ends.
