I am looking for ideas for my DD's 2007 Bday!

Background, DD will be 11 in August of 2007 and I want to plan a special bday for her, currently I am only planning on it just be the 3 of us (DD, DH, and Me) and one friend also 11. However I could expand it to include more family because they are nearby in Tampa but my current inclination is to plan something separate but small with them.

Currently we live in Okinawa, Japan and her Bday this year will be spent at the Beach in a rental cabin, I will have it decorated before we arrive and we will enjoy her day sea kayaking and snorkeling. She also had a Coconut (AG DOG) skating party in Germany before we left...in lieu of gifts she collected dog food for the shelter. Other parties have included a weekend in Paris and the Sand Castle Club at Disney....most are about making her feel special.

Here is the problem...I am really not that creative so if I call private Dinning I don't know what to tell them I want!
At first I was thinking of an illuminations cruise with cake and a sundae bar...she likes making her own sundaes, but I am worried about the smoke from the fireworks, also how would we eat dinner without her getting desser??t.....even considered the Yach if that would take care of the smoke issues.
Another idea I had was a gift of a life time event ending with private dinning on the Beach??

Whatever we do I want her friend to feel just as special...ideas?? I know this seems a long way out but I want to start getting ideas now so I have a plan when the 6month point rolls around. Budget...probably about $1000.

So if you have some over the top ideas, let me hear them!!

I say at about 6 months out contact Private dining and tell them your budget and what you want and that you aren't creative. My experience has been that the people of WDW are very creataive.

Hi! I just had to write and say hello, although I have not used private dining. I lived on Okinawa for three years on Kadena in Marek (Sp?) park and Stearly Heights from 90 to 93. I LOVED it there. Had a baby at the naval hospital. Hope you have a wonderful vacation. Are you going to Okuma? We loved the beach there. Sorry I am off topic, but I couldn't resist! :confused3 :thumbsup2

Hi Yep we live in Stearly Heights right near the youth center...we really like it here! Unfortunately we couldn't get Okuma but we are staying at Torii Beach and I think it will be a lot fun! :cool1:

Where will you be staying? I requested from PD faxes of what they offer at 2 hotels. (I am doing something special for my parents and BF) So I have options from the polynesian and contemporary.

OOPs that is an important detail that I left out, the current plan is to stay at the SOG, with having a friend along extra space is key and I can't beat the price.

BTW I wanted to mention that although I have been pondering the idea of a WDW Birthday surprise for DD for a few weeks, I hadn't said anything to DH until today and much to my suprise with out any debate he loved the idea

Stupid question - are you going into the parks at all, or just dining at WDW?

What about doing an all-day thing, like something from Gifts of a Lifetime?

I kindof figured that (stay at SOG) but wanted to make sure. Contact them to see what they do. Also I have spent 2 bdays in WDW...3rd coming this December! Such a great place to celebrate a birthday! I am an adult (in age..lol) so for a kid it will be even more amazing! One of my cousin's little boy's had his bday while we were there and it was so much fun!

Karenj2-

We will be spending 6 days in the parks, DD's friend has never been so we hope that it will be a very magical trip for both. When DH and I discussed this last night we were leaning torwards a gift of a lifetime adventure ending at the Yacht for fireworks and dessert.

Mkygirl-

I will check with SOG again maybe they have added some options, I had checked once before for a friends Bday and I wasn't impressed so I used an outside company.
