DW and I are celebrating our anniversary at Disney next month. I've read a lot of great ideas for remantic dinners on other threads, but one idea looked really neat -- private dining (maybe on the beach?) at GF.
Has anyone ever tried this? If so, what did you think? Any idea what hours its available?

I have not, but a woman here named Janet2K has done it several times and writes awesome reviews. You could do a search for her posts.

I'm sure it is great. :thumbsup2

One nite we called up "room service" and asked if we could get something not on the menu, the response "this is the gf, anything you want, no problem"! So whatever is planned they will do.

pirate: Also if so inclined, the grand 1 is available for romantic dinners & cruising. :wizard:

Have a great time, Mky :simba:

We did the private dining on our honeymoon in 2000. WE opted to dine in our room - we had a GREAT view of the castle. A butler came in and set up the table with white linen and fine china, poured water and wine and served our first course. He left - giving us time to enjoy our appetizers. Upon his return, he served our entrees (I really can't remember what we had - sorry), but the service was akin to dining in a 4 star restaurant. He left again, giving us ample time to complete the meal, then returned to clear the table and serve dessert. It was ultra posh to be served in this style in our hotel room. I think if we hadn't been in WDW in June, we'd have opted to dine on the beach, but the humidity and bugs would have ruined the moment.

Enjoy! It is well worth the splurge!

thanks everyone, for the great answers! Also, Janet2k's reports were very helpful. This DEFINITELY sounds like something we want to do!! :lovestruc :lovestruc

I was afraid to ask.....but I'll let y'all know when I get more details. I have a bad feeling its one of those "if you have to ask, you can't afford it" kind of things. But, hey...you don't get a lot of chances to do it, so why not do it right? :love2:

We had a Welcome Party at the GF marina prior to DD's Disney Wedding in December. We had a fruit & cheese platter, followed by a desert platter, coffee, tea, hot chocolate & soda for 11 people. We also had 1 Cinderella's slipper dessert for a center piece. We had a butler to serve us for 3 hrs ($50, well worth it) . He provided chairs & small tables & was available to get anything else we requested. We planned it for the evening from 8-11PM so we could enjoy Wishes at the end of the evening. We had a great view of the fireworks. Total price $350. If we had wanted the music from Wishes piped in, it would have cost about $300 extra I think.
While we had only light fare, you can order anything on the menu, from snacks to a multicourse meal w/champagne & there are a number of sites to choose from, both inside & outside the GF.
It was a lovely, relaxing way to start a very busy wedding week. I highly recommend it.

Hi.can u have a meal like this served on the beach or grounds sothat you can see the fireworks iif your staying at another resort or doyou have to be a GF guest.Ifso who would you contact. Thanks daveb

I have to say, this is one of the best ideas, to have a private dinner with your significant other....I'm going to have do it next time I go!

We had a private dining "event" at the GF in December. It was on our first night. We had 4 families all together and we had dinner on the 4th floor balcony. It overlooks the pool and gardens. LOVELY evening. We had butler service as well which was well worth the $50 considering we had 16 people (7 children and 9 adults). We had a 3 course meal served on the balcony. Our butler, Howard, did a fabulous job of pacing the meal perfectly and keeping the kids busy. He had an activity set up for them when we arrived, then as out appetizers were served, their dinner was served. As we were served dinner, he brought them a big plate of cookies then they got coloring pages part of the way through our dinner. The cost was the same as the room service menu + 18% gratuity + $50 for butler service. We all added in a bit more gratuity as we felt he definitely earned it with our big group!

It was definitely a great experience!

We were not guests at GF when we had the Welcome Party.I just called Private Dinning directly & they e-mailed me a menu. We ordered off of that. When I arrived at my resort (OKW) there was a message for me to call Private dining at GF to confirm everything. It was very easy.

I don't know the e-mail address. I just called GF & asked for private dining.
