We are a family of 4 and thought it might be nice to have a private catamaran in St. Thomas to take us to St. John. WE would love to snorkel and have some relaxing beach time. Has anyone done this, what company did you use and how was your experience? Do you remember how much you paid and do you think it was worth it? Thanks

We used Second Wind Charters in St. Thomas and they were excellent. Their boat is not a catamaran but is amazing. We didn't go to St. John, but we set our own itinerary so I bet they would have taken us there if we wanted. You can read about our day here:

It was expensive but worth every penny. I think their prices are on their website.

Not a referral, but if you just want fast, private, convenient travel to St. Josh and back, look into a water taxi. You can reserve them in advance and they will maximize your time in St. John.

If you want more of a tour/ boat experience, a charter is the way to go. They will likely have meals and drinks for you, and the captain can make suggestions on destinations based on your interests.

Either option is great- just a different experience.

Do you remember if you booked a half day charter or full day charter? I wasnt sure if there is enough time for a full day charter. Thanks so much for all your info.

Try the Moorings. They have boats in St Thomas and should have catamarans. We have used them in other areas.

I'm sorry, I can't remember. If I had to guess, it was probably a half day charter. I think I just told them what times the ship would be in port and they told me what times we should book them for. I think they will customize your day however you need. They were very responsive via email.
