Priority Seating question

It's been six years since we've been to DL, and we're heading out there in August for my daughter's birthday. We've never done a character meal there, and I was wondering how you go about doing so?? I've heard it was 60 days out, but what time to the reservation lines open? I want to make sure I call early - we want to go to Ariel's Grotto on her birthday.

Of course now I have another question, does anyone know if all PS's at 60 days out? I thought I read that the Parks and Hotels have different schedules - one at 60 days and the other at 6 weeks? Does anyone know if that's true?
