Saw this in my Deb Wills' newsletter:
Priority Seatings are no more! Effective immediately, Disney has changed the name of its dining "Priority Seatings" to "Advanced Reservations." (There are no changes to the process -- Advanced Reservations are made and work the same way as Priority Seatings did.)

Why the change??

Supposedly too many people didn't understand what Priority Seating meant. The Advance Reservations IS the exact same system - you make your ressie, sohw up 5 minutes before your time and get the next available table for your party size.

They are only changing the name so fewer people are confused (or so I have read)

Is there still a 90 day waiting period before you can make your PS?

If so, I have a silly question, 90 days from Sept 12th is June 12th..correct?

It is June 14th...you can check out the PS dining calculator on DIs dining section for all the dates

Does that mean it is now called The Advance Reservation Calculator? or ARC?

It is about time they changed it. It was always difficult to explain to people what priority seating was.

This will be much easier to explain.

I haven't decided yet. :) I think I will wait and see if ADR (Advanced Dining Reservations) sticks. You will notice when making your ADR, the CM will still tell you it's NOT a reservation.

And then, just to complicate things, is the conversation I had with a CM this morning when I called to make some PSs. Being a travel agent I called on that line, although I'm fairly sure it goes to the same people anyway. I spoke with a CM called (I'm sure this is what she said) "Smilie" and told her I wanted to make some reservations. A few minutes until the process she politely informed me that I wasn't really making "reservations" I was making "priority seatings". I told her that I understand that the terminology had changed, and she said that no, only things the require a deposit or payment are called reservations - the rest of the dining is just "priority seating".

Not that I doubt the accuracy of the reports that it's changed. Just that it would be nice if all the CMs knew that it had.
