priority seating character breakfast at the poly

this is probably one of those dumb newbie questions but what exzactly is priority seating. My guess was it was the obvious, that they would hold a spot for you incase they were swamped. But do you get something more for booking ps, like better seats? I am wanting to reserve ps for the character breakfast at the poly. Am I assigned a certain time or may I choose. Just wondering if any one time is better or worse than another.

Hi. No question is stupid on these boards priority seatings are important especially during busy times or at the more popular restaurants. You can request a specific time but you may not get seated exactly at the time you've requested. All the ps gives you is a disney style reservation - you'll get seated before walk ups. How far off is your trip? You can get ps' 90 days in advance for 99% of the places. The dinner shows are up to two years out I think.
One of the dis sights has a great ps planner and call calculator... I'lll have to research it for you to come up with the address. I'll post it for you when I find it.
Ohana's is supposed to be lots of fun. This will be our first trip to the Poly and we are looking forward to dinner there.

Hi! To find the PS calculator, go to www.wdwinfo.com and click on the PS Calculator link at the bottom of the left side column. If you enter the date you want to eat at the restaurant, it will tell you when to call for that PS. It also lists how many days out to call for each restaurant, although as fam4jc said, most are 90 days with just a couple of exceptions.
