I'm told that Southwest does entertain suggestions from its customers but rather than write them directly I though I would run this question here first.

So you were unable to get a boarding number 24 hours in advance or whatever because you were preselected for random security screening. So when you finally clear security all they have are C boarding passes.

Insult to injury?

What if Southwest gave some kind of perk to those unfortunate souls. Such as boarding with the kids between the A and B groups even when traveling alone?

There are only a very small number of persons who are taken in for extra screening so this should not weigh heavily on the boarding system.

About the "early bird" option, that consists of paying a fee to be able to get a boarding number a little before the 24 hour mark before flight time and without having to sit at the computer when that T-24 comes around.

Since Southwest has no influence over who gets chosen for 'special screening', there's no valid reason why such passengers should be entitled to preferential treatment.

What she said.

Plus - what would they do if one person from a group got SSSS? Let's say the group all got Bs and the SSSS'd person got a C. So, under your program, the SSSS'd can board before the Bs. Can everyone in their group join them? Can they saves seats for the rest of their group?

Do we know what happens if a passenger who pays for EB is selected for SSS? Southwest should reserve the number and issue a BP (at the airport) with AXX (whatever number is assigned at T-36).

Really no reason to have a policy. Generally only one member of a party is SSS and other family members can save one seat. I understand a GA will sometimes accomodate such a passenger.

I don't think this is a problem looking for a solution.

BTW I don't see any reason to offer such a passenger priority boarding, letting them board with the rest of their group is as far as the GA should go.

I'm not sure if the OP is talking about those (few) cases where a passenger is selected for screening at the gate (as they board the plane).

I had to go through the extra screening one time because I couldn't find my license when we were heading home (It was in the dirty laundry bag in my shorts pockets that I had worn on check-in the first day:sad2: ) My DH and 2 DDs had A boarding passes. I was allowed to board with them.

No. I think it is part of the "risk" of flying SouthWest.

If you are flying alone, it's not going to be a big deal. If you are flying with others, they can save you a seat.
I see no reason for SW to offer something extra or special due to a TSA issue.
