Has anyone printed any of the disigners journals at office depot/max and just had them bound? :confused3 I will thinking of using winkflash but I dont really want to pay $40+ to have them made into photobooks. Any advice to have these printed cheaply would be greatly appreciated!!! BTW they are 8x11 so I can't use artscow:confused:

TIA

I took a journal (approx 25 pages) to Office Depot to have printed and bound with a clear cover and I think it was less than $10.00. They did a really nice job.

I did this
OK, I've had alot of people ask me how I did theese. So please bear with me as I try to explain. Remember, I am no expert, just a parent trying to make a special gift for my kids.
First I requested a welcome letter from a disigner, link below, printed it on photo paper and used it as page two.

Then I found another disigner and went thru his shared photos in his disney cruise folder and found logos and journal pages. link below
http://www.4shared.com/dir/19077581/4fa6c900/sharing.html
Then I just searched thru different disigner photo bucket and shared pages for autograph cards and downloaded them. Then I googled "Disney cruise name badge" and got one that I pasted on my front cover. link below

Then I dowloaded a walt disney font to put into my windows alphabet. link below
http://www.pickafont.com/fonts/W/Walt Disney Script V4 1.html
Then with The Print Shop Program, copy pasted, cropped inserted, made bigger, whatever my imagination thouht would look good, created the pages. Laid it out to how I thought it would look good. Printed double sided on heavy card stock. Printed the front cover, back cover and welcome letters on photo paper. Took it to a print shop, had them laminate the covers and spiral bind it. Now this might seem like alot, but if you take your time and let your imagination run, it will come out great. Everybody that I showed my book to loves it. I made four pages for autographs, eight pages for sea days, pages for the restaraunts, cabin, ports, friends, and crew members. Really look into that link that has the journal pages. They really get all the credit. Hope this helped. Cant wait to give them to my kids.
All three books costed me about $30

I printed the front cover, back cover and welcome letters on photo paper and photo quality printing and laminated the covers. Printed the rest on card stock so I can print two sided and used normal printing quality. Some came out great, a coupl came out OK, but good enough for a home project, Really go thru that link I used for journal pages. That helped alot.

I had mine printed as photobooks at Winkflash. Do you have time to keep checking for a sale? They go on sale frequently.

Ok, I am just confused! I've decided to attempt these journals for our upcoming Dream cruise. But I'm trying to figure out how I'm getting them bound into a journal, and it's not happening. I went on the websites of Office Depot & Kinkos, but can't find any info on spiral-binding.

Can I just bring them my print-outs and they will bind it? Do the print-outs have to be a specific size? I wanted these to be like, handy little 5"x8" books that the kids could tote around. Not sure how I'm even gonna print stuff out that size... :confused3

Mafpi: Can you explain how you got these things sized that way (it appears your journals are 5"x8"...am I wrong?) Can you also specify what type of print shop you used to bind them? Is it a national chain?

I really feel like I'm in over my head, but some of you are making it sound so simple that I guess I'm just not getting it.

Thanks in advance!! :thumbsup2

Just jumping in here. I print my own things, then go to OfficeMax, Office Depot, Staples, Kinko's FedEX, cut them on their equipment, laminate, and have them bind items for me. The binding can be in different colors, and will be done to the size of your item. They also put covers and backs on things for me. The projects come out looking good. I'm currently working on some projects for a good friend and then I'll start my projects for this summer. I have found the people at all of these places to be extremely helpful.

One thing more, I have learned while browsing through the shared files/photobucket accounts of the dissigners, to save anything that I think I like, and try to organize them so I can find them again. I have spent hours, and I mean hours, looking through their fabulous dissigns!

Have fun, Karen
Hope this helps,
