I need a place that will print around 2,000 or so black and white copies cheap. I am working on our family tree and my family wants copies of the notes I took. Any advice?

Digital publishing. Put them online and let each person print their own copy.

PS. I'm a professional genealogist. It is what I do for a living. :).

It might be cheaper to somehow scan them onto your computer or anyone's for that and put them on a flash drive (Granted this is more time consuming, but less cost probably to you) and then e-mail them to everyone and they can print at their own leisure if they even want to.

You can scan and post them via online through Google Docs, or a file sharing site. If I recall, you can password protect it so others can't view it.

The average print shop will charge you 10 cents per page and can do it fast. You can sometimes find a coupon for a place like FedEx Office for 5 cents a page on standard (bright) white. I'm a graphic artist so I have worked with a lot of print shops over the years.

Have to say, due to the current season, I read that and wondered, "what kind of freaky person takes notes on how they put up their Christmas tree?" :rotfl:

Most geneology is online-its not supersecret info-do it that way:confused3

i wanted to burn it all on cds, and let everyone make there own choice of what to do with it but yea, mom dont like that idea.

I would buy a big bunch of cds or dvds and save it to them and tell your family members they can send you a SASE, or better yet, Merry Christmas - here is your family Christmas present!

laser printers have become so affordable, you can get one for $50-80 easily. You can get toner cartridges that last 2500 pages for about $20. so that works out to less than 1c per page. You can get paper for very cheap too, if you look for deals on slickdeals etc. you can get a case of paper for $10 or often free!

We've switched completely to laser printers in our household and everybody prints without worrying about running out of ink or costing a lot of money. This is really the way to go. Inkjet printers are so not worth it now, except maybe to print the occasional color printout.

Well then make mom a hard copy and give the rest digital. I know I would much prefer it in digital rather than had copy. Not sure if you work in a professional office setting, but all our copiers at work have a multi sheet feed scanner. I can scan about 100 pages in less than 5 minutes.

We do black/white prints and copies for 5¢ each at my office, we are an office equipment dealer and do this one the side.

I agree with the idea of making the information available online, it's much less expensive and probably easier for most people anyway. Why not just print a copy for your mom since she seems to be the one that wants it printed and make it available online to everyone else?
