Hi everyone! Just nabbed a res for the Princess Storybook lunch at Akershus on 9/30. I'm wondering if anyone was there recently and if you can tell me how it was - which characters were there, how the food was, etc. The menu seems a bit limited; I'm particularly interested in the adult food choices. And did the kids enjoy it?

Many thanks!

We did it for dinner and before the new menu (even though it was only 2 weeks ago that we were there), but I will say that the food was absolutely wonderful, high-quality stuff--buffet, entrees, dessert, everything. My DH and I both had mustard-glazed salmon over baby red potatoes and orange and yellow roasted carrots. The kids around us were clearly having the time of their lives, so I assume the kids' menu was good too (they mostly were actually eating, too, which at character meals is an accomplishment).

We had Belle as the greeter, then Cinderella, Aurora, Snow White, and Ariel. As far as I can tell, that's a fairly regular combination of characters at all meals there. (We were hoping for Mulan or Jasmine, boo.)

So while I can't be all that much help, I would say that the food is definitely no reason to avoid Akershus, at least if you like seafood (there are non-seafood choices on the entree menu of course, but the buffet had a lot of seafood) and are willing to try different flavors. (Though mustard glazed salmon is hardly exotic ;) ). We went pretty much just for the food, and we'd definitely go back.

We did this in the spring and the princesses that day were Belle (in yellow dress as the greeter/photo package photo op) then circulating the tables it was Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Ariel and Mulan.

DD ordered off the kids menu and got raviolis with the meatballs and sauce on the side ;) -- she gobbled up the raviolis but wasn't a huge fan of the meatballs. DH had the soup with salmon club, which he said was good. I had the veggie stuffed pasta, which was basically a veggie ravioli. The sauce was creamy and there was alot of it -- I wished I had asked for marinara sauce instead because the cream sauce was too heavy for me. In addition, the apps are from the cold bar -- they had cold cuts, cheese, some cold salads and shrimp. Dessert was served as a family style plate -- rice pudding with strawberry sauce, chocolate cake and school bread.

Although the food here wasn't my favorite of the trip, we really enjoyed the meal because DD had such a great time. I'd say this was among the best character interaction of the character meals we did that trip.
