Princess Storybook Dining at Norway’s Akershus restaurant

I am hoping we can get reservations when our 180 days are here. We are going spring break. My 4 year old would love to dress up and dine with princesss princess: - how very cute. What a great memory.

Are you going to take the clothes to change into before dinner or let her wear it all day?

Probably take the dress to change into. It'll be hot and I'm sure she'll want to wear the Aurora costume as that's her favorite. Of course, I'll be the one packing since this is a surprise trip for her. ;) I figure I'll let her decide when to change out of it afterward. Thanks!

Free Photos indeed, well how is the lunch? I really was wishing on a star for breakfast but landed a Lunch ressie, any info on Lunch?

We had breakfast at Akershus - the food was very good. There was a cold buffet of patries, cheeses, fruits and smoked salmon (this is Norway!). They brought the hot food (eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes) to your table, family-style. You could ask for more of whatever you wanted.

One princess greets you as you enter and you have your picture taken with her (often, this is Belle). 4 other princesses will circulate through the restaurant as you eat, visiting at each table. They will stop and chat, hug, pose for pictures, sign autographs. It's a very relaxed way to meet the princesses. We loved it and are going back next time!

Is this like Germany where you sit with other families or is the food brought out in bowls? My wife does not like to sit with other people. She is very shy. She hated and will not back to Germany.

Thanks

I have to admit I do wish grown ups could dress up like princesses too!!!!! (I totally understand the reasoning) but I feel so envious of all the little girls at BBB and wearing their princess costumes!!! It would be so much fun!!!!!! princess: :cutie: I suppose my Sleeping Beauty t-shirt will just have to do. Maybe one day I'll be blessed with a little girl and can live vicariously! :lovestruc

Lunch is pretty good as well. They have a big appetizer bar, that you can go and help yourself until your food arrives. The food is great. I had the Norwegians dish and it was delicious. We loved both equally - lunch and breakfast.

You are going to enjoy it for sure:goodvibes

If you keep trying you can get a breakfast reservation. I kept calling at 7:00 am each morning because I still needed a CRT and Akershus reservation. Persistence paid off, I got both. Cast members told me that the ADRs that require a credit card to hold the reservation for DDP folks, tend to get call in cancellations rather than no shows. A couple of years ago we were able to get a breakfast reservation calling from the resort two days prior.

We were there twice last week, once for breakfast and once for dinner, and the photo package was free both times.

bookbabe_disneynut,
Did you enjoy going twice? We have a dinner booked but now I'm wondering if I should add breakfast too? It sounds so nice!!

I'm so happy the picture pkg is included now! Thanks everyone for the information. Any idea as to which princess to expect on which day? Is it on a schedule or random?

On allears.net this information is posted with the menu.

"Characters will appear on a rotating schedule, that is, there is no guarantee which characters will be appearing on any given day.
Disney Princesses, Leading Ladies and Friends who may appear include: Ariel (in ballgown), Belle, Jasmine, Snow White, Princess Aurora (Sleeping Beauty), Mulan, or Mary Poppins. Cinderella makes occasional appearances."

We were there in June for dinner. Belle was doing the photo package photos and Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel and Jasmine were our other princesses.
(Photo in my signature is from the photo package.:) )

We were travelling with a 6yo princess fanatic, and we lucked out and had different princesses each time, with the exception of Belle at the door. Considering that doing both breakfast and dinner saved us HOURS of time spent waiting in autograph lines, I was thrilled with the experience! I couldn't even care less what the food was like. :rotfl2: We were there during Fay, and even then the line for Ariel was 50 minutes plus at its lowest, and about an hour for the princesses back in Toontown. To see 9 different princesses some other way would have taken all week! As a timesaver, I highly recommend the experience (and we were on the dining plan, so it didn't even cost extra credits like CRT).

Thank you bookbabe_disneynut!!:)

We went in June and Belle was at the photo station. The photo's were okay. I think mine came out better. (I take a ton of photos thought). The characters were great. My dd wore her Aurora, and she was the one character that night that was a bit snotty. But by the end of the week we met another Aurora that redemeed herself. The Ariel was AWESOME! She had on the green dress and the was twirlling her hair. Cindy was also great. We had Jasmine as well. The princesses were all great with my son. They all gave him a kiss on the cheek and made sure they left a lipstick mark. It was sooooo cute! I was really worried about the food where people kept giving it bad reviews. I thought the food was great. They had a cold bar for dinner that I would have been happy with. Then we had the sit down meal. Which was plenty. I did have the Belle dress as well, but I figured the yellow on yellow would kind of wash out so I was glad I picked another princess dress for her to wear.

Does anyone have pictures of the inside and the food choices?

What does the picture package include?

Did the lunch last year with DD(8) after her BBB appt. in downtown disney. Was very impressed with the food (cold bar and main dish). I had the Norwegian meat dish (can't remember name) which was like a mini meatloaf with a really good brown glaze/sauce. Just about every princess was there which was very nice, but I felt the interaction was a little rushed. Could have been because we were just a party of 2 and were seated at a very tiny little table hiding behind a pole, because I did notice more interaction at some of the larger tables. In fact, one of the pricesses missed us (so I alerted our waitress) and she had to come back to us at the end. Save room for the dessert plate at the end.......YUM!!!!!!

The photo package was not included at the time we went in April, so I took my own pics and had just purchased the BBB package, so no real loss. One other complaint was that it took about 45 min. past our reservation time to actually get called. We ended up going on Maelstrom twice while waiting, just to cool off, but it was hot and crowded outside the restaurant and they were really behind schedule with all ressies. I would still recommend this though for your princesses!

What is the dinning room look like?
Does anyone have picts of the dinning room?

My son (2) and daughter(4) loved this meal. The table time is great and the atmosphere is amazing. Good choice for a TS.
