Princess Phoebe's Pre-WISH-Trip Report (arriving in MK 4/17/10)

I. Love. Those. Shoes! (the wedges).

The Merrells looks nice and comfy too. I think we have similar taste in shoes (LOVE Born).

I was also thrown at first by the "thong" reference (native NYer here), but figured it out from context (realized it wasn't a reference to lingerie!).

Good job on finding such cute shoes and the wedges at such a good deal. I went looking for Disney shoes yesterday and couldnt find anything. Oh well still got time.

Ohh this reminds me I got a pair of tennis shoes for our trip. I need to start breaking them in soon. :thumbsup2 I really wish they hadnt taken all of our disney stores out. The last time I was there I got a really cute pair of mens Mickey PJ bottoms for like $5.

In Mexico, the sewer system is poor and can't handle paper in many places.

Oh, Jordan, there you go ruining the fun with that educational mumbo-jumbo. j/k Yes, that is exactly why the sign is there (thankfully everyone visiting ghetto Target that day seemed to comply). I live in a "border town" and refer to our region as Northern Mexico. Our neighborhood is typical US suburbs. But look around and you will wonder which side of the fence you are on when you see vaqueros, banditos, and la migra.

I love the stuffed frogs! Caitlin and I were actually playing with those in our Target the other day :upsidedow I would "smuggle" some goodies in your suitcase and give the treats there. We still do "Tink" gifts sometimes where Tinkerbell leaves little gifts in our room. When I pack them I just wrap them in tissue paper and put them in the checked suitcase.

I had trouble not playing with them as we walked around also. I like the Tinkerbell idea. I'm usually the last one out the door when we go somewhere (doing the final check) so I could probably sneek some surprises onto their beds or something like that.

Merrell's are great shoes. I've had mine for at least 8 years-they are finally showing their age.

I remember hearing the name but have never owned a pair. Glad to hear you have had a good run with yours. The color wasn't what I would have chosen if there was a choice, but they were muted enough I figured it'd be okay.

Also can I just say...you westerners with your "thongs" also make me laugh...flip flops people! They're flip flops..thongs cover your bum, not your feet!

Okay, I usually say flip-flops when it applies to a foam/rubber thing with a couple of straps attached. These are what I was trying on (top row, first 3 shoes):

Please notice the name of the style of shoe displayed in the search!;)

I love those wedges too! I'm so going to DSW before we leave. I want cute comfortable walking shoes. Chuck Taylors just don't cut it. And I got cuts on my heel from those things during our rainy trip last time. I need something really soft for the heel of my foot and my arch....need to go look those look like they could work......:)

I hope you find something you really wanna use.

I am sorry to hear about your Granmother. I wish you lots of luck on the planning-it is very tricky to fit everything in and thats without knowing weather-how the kids are doing etc. Fun shopping trip!

LOVE the shoes!! .....both of them. :lovestruc

That restroom sign is hysterical! :rotfl2: We once went into a grocery store in Mississippi while visiting some friends/family, and ran into a sign telling people not to spit chewing tobacco on the floors! :confused3 UMMM.....OKAY!!!! :lmao:

I was taking Tessa's measurements for the Big Give and to curb her annoyance with me (it is SO hard for her to stand still for more than two seconds in a row!) I told her what it was for - sort of. We've been calling the Wish coordinator Phoebe's "Fairy Godmother" and explained she is granting Phoebe's wish. Tessa wanted to know if she was the same as Cinderella's and I said no, she has her own. After reading Kelly's PTR last night about the fairies coming to visit I got an idea. I told Tessa that there were some fairies who emailed me and asked if they could make them some special clothes for them. It seemed appropriate since she loves Sleeping Beauty and knows her three fairies very well, and that they made Rose the special bday dress in the movie. In fact, when I mentioned fairies emailing me she asked if she could say hi to the green one. Fauna, she clarified. :rotfl: I told her that these are different fairies but yes, she could say hi. So here is Tessa's message to the Big Give Fairies as dictated to mom, however, and I quote, "I will use the mouse and click on the happy faces"...

:goofy::earboy2::stitch2::ccat::tinker:
Good morning! You fairies are nice! I can't wait to see my surprises. And then I'm going to say Peek-a-boo to you and scare you! And then I'll be a princess and dance with Merriweather, Flora and Fauna. :surfweb::littleangel::upsidedow:flower3:Good bye!:rotfl2::dance3::lmao: love, Tessa

I love DSW. I find something every time I go, even though I don't always buy it. :lmao: Sore feet and owies are no fun. Go get some new shoes girl!

It is going to be crazy trying to plan this! If we were buying the tix ourselves it would be easier, because I just wouldn't buy some of them. Since they are being given to us I feel like we should take advantage and at least check everything out. I am totally cool with adapting to the girls' needs though. Moms are used to that, right?;)

That's so random! I remember seeing a sign similar to the bathroom one when we were on a road trip somewhere in TX, OK or KS??? I guess the gas station was on a septic system. An OLD septic system. :lmao:

I'm glad I get the seal of approval from everyone. :thumbsup2 I love the wedges, but haven't had reason to wear them yet. I tried out the Merrells on a long walk with the girls yesterday. The heels rubbed a little, but no blisters so I'm happy!

I still haven't heard from the Wish coordinator but I'm going forward with the revised plan. If I'm wrong, I'll just have one more day at the end to add stuff back in. :thumbsup2
So I changed our CRT ressie. I was pretty surprised that 3 months out they had plenty of available options. I also cancelled T-Rex on the Sat I thought we were leaving. I don't know if we'll have time to hit DTD now. Not a big priority for us. Going to go over the other plans and ideas and see how I can get it to fit together.
Has anyone been to the GKTW Mayor's Bday party? That is on the night we arrive and depending on our timing, I might try to use that night for one of the US parks. We would only have a couple of hours at most, but at least we will be wide awake on PST that first night. Wondering if the party is good enough not to miss. Or maybe I won't be able to get to an orientation early enough to get the tickets and everything else settled. The first day really is likely used up for us in travel time, but I'm being hopeful.

Hi Tessa! :wave2: I think you and your sister are already Princesses princess:princess: I'm not a "sewing fairy" but my daughter Caitlin and I will be sending you both some pixie dust anyway :tinker: We consider ourselves "shopping fairies" :goodvibes

By the way, I love all the pictures you used and the pink letters!

Dawn

Love the message from Tessa! :goodvibes and great idea to explain the Big give people as fairies. I love it and may have to steal it. :)

Oh Tessa's message was too cute! I love it! It makes me want to hurry up this year sometimes....but not always! Ha! I can't wait to see her Sleeping Beauty dress~! Who is Phoebe's favorite?

Yes, I need new shoes for sure. Something that won't kill me while we are at the parks. I've got planes. Dress, purse and shoe shopping before we hit WDW. I just hope it doesn't rain again...cause then I'll be in trouble haha!

My fairy discussion with Tessa this morning was perfectly timed, unbeknownst to me. This evening (yes, evening - our mailman is late!) around 6pm a knock on the door revealed a package. Tessa was the first to run to the door and see it (I'm really working on the whole "ask who it is" "don't answer if it's a stranger" thing...). She excitedly handed it to me and I read the label and told her it was from a fairy named Margaret (DISer MCazer). She said "let's open it!!!". Phoebe was almost in the bathtub so I told Tessa the package was for Phoebe too and we needed to wait. While Phoebe was getting ready for bed, with the help of Sally her helper, I coaxed Tessa into a quick bath. Problem was, she didn't want to get out! I had to remind her that the mystery package was waiting. That got her out! Then came the challenge of getting her dressed. This girl gets distracted!!! Again, the package is waiting as a bribe. Finally, we are all in the family room together (daddy's at work until the wee hours of the morning and won't see Phoebe until the weekend so we weren't waiting!). I wanted to get both girls with the box, mainly because Phoebe doesn't have the coordination to hold something that big on her own. Tessa was all over the place so I gave up and had Phoebe try her best. She did pretty well and was quite excited to have a box that needed to be opened.

I love how the box has a personal message and the shipping label even says "Have a Mickey Day".
P1013573.jpg

She really was excited. It was cute.
P1013575.jpg

Now the inner box is revealed and she looks like she's really focused.
P1013576.jpg

Apparently Phoebe was reading the personal message on this box. (I love that Disney script!).
P1013578.jpg

Once the box was open it was madness. Like Christmas morning. Tessa wanted to see everything and quickly. Phoebe would reach in and grab something too. My fear with Tessa was (knowing what some of the items were inside) that she would find a pen and start writing on the gifts not understanding what they were. My fear with Phoebe was that she would grab something and put it in her mouth. Not a good place for paper to be. So I'm trying to keep this fun and happy, but my blood pressure is sky rocketing (and I don't have high blood pressure, yet). I try to get one item in each of the girls' hands, quickly, and Sally helps contain Phoebe's interest while I snap a couple of Tessa.

It's a personal autograph book complete with Tiana bag and princess pen.
P1013583.jpg

She was dancing and twirling around the foyer with it.
P1013591.jpg

Then back to grabbing things out of the box.
P1013592.jpg

Trying on her Cinderella themed autograph book bag, also with Cinderella pen in it's own little pocket.
P1013595.jpg

Okay, back to concentrating.
P1013602.jpg

She unwrapped this...so Tessa has to check it out. She is excited that she recognizes the people in the picture....Fairy Godmother, Sleeping Beauty, Tiana, Cinderella and THAT'S MY DADDY!
P1013607.jpg

She was so enthralled that her daddy was a prince, I had to ask her to look at the others a couple more times before she realized they were US!
P1013622a.jpg

There was also a second copy of the print, that I put into the new photo album Phoebe received.

Sally and I were in awe at the originality and talent that "fairy" Margaret put into this. It was awesome! The whole package was just amazing! She thought of every detail, right down to the Mickey ribbon and the gorgeous Princess-y script on the gift bags.

Here are the gorgeous books and bags close up....with more familiar faces on the covers!

But there's still more in the box and Tessa comes out with something. What's that?!? Another book and bag??? Each???

I love how Margaret was able to center two different scenes on either side of the bag.

P1013653.jpg

Margaret asked us to check out her ebay site and pick out a bag for each girl. She offered to make some changes to ours and was open to whatever the girls liked. I picked out a couple of options for Phoebe and Tessa chose Tiana. I told Margaret that she could do it however she wanted since obviously she was very talented and knew what looked good. I did mention that I hadn't seen one of *just* Cinderella though, and if she happened to see any fabric like that, it would be perfect for Phoebe. She totally came through with a very custom, Cinderella only, bag. I was amazed at how perfectly she designed the bag to have the two scenes on either side of the bag. And then to add in two more books and bags. Well, I'm speechless! (Finally! Ha!)

There was also a huge wall sticker of Cinderella (4 ft!). Phoebe will definitely be able to see that clearly. How awesome! This was such fun (for the girls, and I'll admit, once I gave up trying to catch every gift and every expression, for me too). Sally even told me it was really fun to be here for it but she was glad to be going back to her quiet home afterwards. :lmao: Thank you so much Margaret! The books and bags will be well used on our trip and I love how the girls will have such original creations for their autographs! You are so talented and creative. Since I couldn't remember which items I got pics of during opening, I took one of the whole gift.
P1013657.jpg

Notice how even the little note has Mickey ear shapes cut out all the way around it. I was in awe at the amount of detail that went into this. Thank you so much for offering to make these for Phoebe and Tessa. They really loved them, and I know will love them even more when they realize what exciting memories they are going to hold!
