Hello!
Our Dr has alreday talked to CWF, like you said it was done even before she was approved for a wish. Her formula is liquid, and while it is by perscription, the label is only on the box not on each individual can. There are 24 cans in the case. I would be bringing full cans, which wouldn't be open and have the original label on them. I supposed I could ask our pharmacy to print out labels that we can stick on the cans we are bringing.
Do that! We had to do it for the kids puffers. Get a label for each bottle/can of formula and attach the prescription to it. You can do the same for the bag being used during flight. Its open but its meds so it'll be ok. Just make sure there's a script on it. However, how to we handle the formula that is already in her feed bag/pump? She'll be hooked up to her feeding pump, so how does work?
Wouldn't be a bad idea to run it past the airline but I'm sure this won't be a problem. CWF is trying to get the medical supply company they use to send up 1.5 cases of her formla so we don't have to travel with all of it. We'll still have to bring some in our carry on as she'll need it for our travel day. Especially if there are any delays before we make it to GKTW. Good to know that the meds can be seperate then a normal carry on, especially since one of her meds needs to be kept cold. I'll make sure to have a carry on of just her meds, syringes and formula - which will make it easier to get to anyways. Am I allowed to administer meds while on the plane?
Yes. I can't imagine that you wouldn't. You may want to tell the airline attendant in advance but really, if she needs meds, she needs meds. I'm sure diabetics take it on flight so there's no difference. She'll be due for some while we are in the air, and she can't be late on her meds. Monkey and my husband are healthy, no medical issues. I however, have asthma. So would I need to get a letter or something from my GP?
I doubt it. All three of my kiddos are asthmatic and while the blood disorders raised flags, the asthma didn't and they didn't end up with a letter from their paed which is their treating physician for that problem.
As of now, Peanut is stable enough to travel (we couldn't have said that for most of 2010

) of course things can drastically change between now and then (as we have unfortunately seen). Her weight is far from stable, but we are working on that. And shes been infection free for awhile now (YAY), so that isn't holding her back. Her Paed said on Friday that obviously, if things change then the trip can just be rescheduled. I hope not though, I would be so sad. All of this is one of the reasons we wantd to travel sooner then later. She is doing okay right now, but we can't predict what will happen in the future. And when you add in her going to the US, more tests and possible surgeries, we wanted her to be able to enjoy it as much as she can. Now if we can only get some weight on it (which is a whole other issue). Siiigh....
Keeping my fingers crossed that her weight starts to rise
