I want to thank everyone who helped me plan my daughter’s princess party. I think it went very well. I did not stick to planned activities like I thought we would. The schedule of keeping activities for ½ hours for the two-hour party did help me know where we should be. Even though I allowed a bunch more “free play” time than I thought I would I still kept to the schedule of having the cake at the start of the second hour.

We had 6 guests not including the birthday girl and my 18-month old. Two of the girls were from her school. One was from her old school – somebody she had not seen in a year. And my neighbor brought her three grandkids. Two boys and a girl. The only bickering was between my neighbor’s grandkids. It was just typical tattling on sibling, nothing that you would not expect. It was not disruptive. They are sweet kids.

All the girls came dressed to the hilt. Some even came with little purses. It was too cute.

The turrets on the castle cake I made leaned significantly. My daughter loved it and the other parents were very complementary.

I cut up apples and made caramel and cream cheese layered dip. Looking back, probably not a good idea with young ones prone to double dipping. I walked into the room to see my 18-month-old double dipping. Was my husband preventing it? No, he got out the camera and was trying to get a shot of it. I also made a bunch of cheese, chili and sausage dip for the parents. Hardly anybody ate anything. I had way to much food.

My daughter climbed up on a chair and started handing out the goodie bags before we did the piñata. She had already opened her presents and I think she wanted to give something to her friends.

When we asked her later what her favorite part of the party was, she told us it was opening her presents. I guess I should appreciate her honesty. But I was kind of hoping she would say “spending time with my friends.”

My daughter was just beaming the rest of the weekend. She even asked me tonight about when she would turn 5. She said it was not fair that she has to wait such a long, long time.

Thanks again for all the help!

Sher

glad to hear that it went well and you guys had fun. :D maggie

I was driving home from somewhere and passed a group of little girls around 5-7 years old, all dressed identically as princesses. They had crowns and gowns and little bags and were parading up and down the street. It was so cute.

Glad to hear your party was a huge success.
