Any ideas for games for a princess themed birthday party for a 4 year old girl?

It's not really a game, but you could do a craft. You could have the girls make their own magic wands... It's fun plus the girls get to take them home..

We have had a number of princess parties around here. I have a few ideas, but don't have time to list them now. So I am suscribing.

Last birthday party (her 5th) was a beach theme, but then we had to through Areil in the mix too.

We had a Princess themed party for our 6 yo last year. The first thing I did was "googled" - "princess party". I came across this Awesome site: http://www.birthdaypartyideas.com/index.html They have Huge lists of ideas (for whatever theme you are looking for!) People write in & tell about their childs party & what they did - from invitations, to decorations, to games, & goody bags - You name it - You'll read about it All! I always go to this site for ideas!

As far as ideas for my dd's princess party: We were thinking about a Princess slumber party & were going to do dress up & make up time & put on princess music, maybe karaoke, and watch a princess movie. Also was thinking of hiring a friend of a friend to dress up as Cinderella & come to the door & hang out with the girls for awhile, take pics, sign autographs, etc. If you are looking for some great & inexpensive party stuff....try Dollar Tree! They had some glass slippers & swan containers - that I filled with small candies....they looked great on the table. With the glass slippers I was going to hide them & play a find the glass slipper game. Anyhow, those were just some of our ideas....we didn't get to use them b/c we just ended up having a small party with family & not many kids but she still loved the decorations & she truly felt like a Princess!

Have fun planning for your Princess!!!!! princess:

We did a princess party for my 4 yr old this past year. Instead of doing pin the tail on the donkey they did pin the lips on the frog. I had a frog with a little crown on his head and cut out some lips shapes with double stick tape on the back so it would stick to the frog. We also did the princess and the pea game. We had a green rubber ball and put pillows on the floor and put the ball under a pillow and then brought the girls in one at a time and they had to sit on each pillow and guess which pillow the "pea" was under.

If you go to the link posted by weluvDisney you'll find tons of Princess birthday ideas. I did a Princess party for my dd's 4th. familyfun.go.com has a castle cake that you can make (warning-it's not as easy as it looks).

These are all great ideas and great resources! I'm not a "make a cake" kind of mom...we buy the cakes! However, I am a "make a wand" kind of person- i can handle crafts as long as no one is expected to eat them!

I did a craft or activity for each of the 6 main princesses:

Snow White - Pass the parcel: bought jewels (with sticky backs) from Oriental Trading Co. and put them in little fabric bags. I wrapped one bag in princess paper then put another bag of jewels on top of the present and wrapped that in princess paper, then put another bag on top and wrapped that in princess paper, etc. until all 10 bags of jewels were wrapped individually in one large present. I told the girls that the dwarfs had left gifts for them in the present. I played music from Snow White, and the girls passed the package. When the music stopped, whoever had the package opened it and found a bag of jewels. This continued until everyone had a bag.

Sleeping Beauty - Decorate Tiaras: The girls used the jewels to decorate foam tiaras.

Jasmine - Magic Carpet Relay: Bought cheap placemats and two Jasmine Barbies from the dollar store. The girls took turns running across the grass holding their placemat/magic carpet with Jasmine on top.

Ariel - Fishing for Dinglehoppers: put paper clips on plastic forks and dropped them in a tub of water. Got some cheap magnetic fishing poles and they took turns fishing for Dinglehoppers (I explained what the those were prior to the game).

Belle - Bookmarks: Got foam bookmarks and sticky foam decorations and they made their own bookmarks

Cinderella - Freeze dancing at the ball. I gave each girl a goody bag with a necklace, ring, mirror, and comb, and silk rose and sent them to my DD's room with my mother (the fairy godmother) to get ready for the ball. Each girl was then announced ("introducing princess so and so") and each walked into the ball (living room) wearing their tiara, jewelry, and holding their rose. (Good photo op!) Then we played music from Cinderella. First they all danced normally. Then I put on a faster freeze dance song.

I found stamps of each princess so after each activity the girls got a stamp on their hand of the appropriate princess.
I played appropriate princess music at each activity.
I also made coloring books with a pic of each princess (got them from the disney website).

It was a great party.

I got most of the these ideas from www.birthdaypartyideas.com. As a PP said, it's a great site!
Good luck with yours and happy birthday to your DD!.

Just did a princess party for my 3yr old in January. ;) I had the girls all wear princess costumes and my dd *LOVED* that part. They made crowns out of foam from Michael's. We did pin the crown on the princess (just cut up big triangles from scrapbook paper and put a streamer at the tip of it). We also did musical chairs to princess music. We had a Barbie princess cake made (my ds's friend's mother makes cakes). I know our local Jewel (or Albertson's) makes Barbie princess cakes.

For the favor, I found a princess cd off of ebay but they don't do it anymore on ebay. Here is the website: www.funtasticbirthdays.com I paid about $3/cd and it had 12 princess songs on it and it was personalized that said "Emma's 3rd Birthday--2006".

We set up different games/craft stations based on princesses.

Ariel - made bracelets with Sea Creature beads purchased from Oriental Trader.

Snow White - "Hot Potato" - used a fake apple (Poison apple) for them to pass around and whoever had it when the music stopped was out.

Jasmine - used carpet reminents cut small and placed them in a circle one short of the number of girls playing. Played music as they walked around the carpets and when the music stopped they had to get on a carpet. The one without a spot was out.

Cinderella - made wands. Took small rods and painted them silver. Cut shiny ribbons for them and let them attach the ribbons to the rod with star stickers.

Sleeping Beauty - made crowns. Ordered tiara kits which came with jewels and glitter glue from Oriental trader.

Hope all of the ideas you've gotten help. Birthday Party Ideas website is awesome. Go there for sure!

These are some great ideas and web site links. Better then mine really. I have always want to have a "real" princess party where all the girls dress up and do all princess things. The thing is my DD's has so many good boy friends that at least half the kids are always boys. It just would't be a birthday with out them.

Maybe someday we will just have a princess party with girls only! (just for the fun of it.) :goodvibes

I'm planning a Princess Party also for my DD who will be 5 in June. These ideas are great and I love the links to the websites. I can see myself way overdoing it already. I am renting one of those Princess Castle Moonwalks for the day but also looking for other stuff for the girls to do. So, keep the ideas coming.

What to do with the boys? Yes...this is a bit of a dilemma. DD4 has one or two very good friends who are boys who she really wants to include. I'm not sure how to make a princess party work to include the boys!

We can call them Knights or Lords. Will magic wands still work as I don't really feel comfortable with the idea of swords (just makes me uncomfortable as we are pretty antiviolent0 I know this is an extreme..)?

What else can I do to include the boys in teh games?

I had several two year old boy siblings at our princess party. We called them princes. This worked fine since most of the princesses have a prince, not a knight or lord. I did not want to get into the lord or knight theme because I too did not want to deal with the sword/fighting issue.

When we decorated tiaras, I bought them crowns to decorate instead. When the girls got their purse goody bags, I bought simple purple bags for their loot. They did not do the princess procession, but they didn't care. They participated in all the games because I set them up to be pretty non-gender specific.

For their coloring books, I printed out pictures of the princes for them to color.

We did a Belle obstacle course once for my 10 year old sister's party. We had each of the girls go through things similar to what Belle walks through as she reads her book at the beginning of the movie.
