I am plaanning a princess tea party (at home) 3rd b-day party. We are making wands, dressing up, having tea & goodies. I need suggestions for handmade invitations, games, & snacks. Budget minded of course. princess:

For snacks you could have sandwiches (PB&J) cut out in the shapes such as hearts, flowers, by using cookie cutters. I would also consider serving the girls chocolate milk in the tea cups, instead or in addition to real tea. I know when I was that age I thought tea was "yucky". :) You could play pin the tiara on the princess (pin the tail on the donkey). I'll post more ideas later! :)

You could make crown invitations out of pink construction paper using glitter glue and sticky gems to decorate them. www.familyfun.com used to have a cute castle cake idea. Not sure if they still do or not. PM me if you can't find it and I will do my best to describe it.

I would get the Disney Princess fruit snacks for something to go in the goodie bag as well as sheets of Princess stickers and cut them up. You could also have them make candy necklaces/bracelets though that might be a bit tedious for three year olds.

Have fun, I bought Cinderella stuff when DD was really into princesses and then by the time her bday came around, she didn't want to do princesses. Sad--the stuff is still in my closet and now she is 9 so all hope is lost!

You can do a "Diamond Dig". Just get a bag of those large jewel tone Jewels and put them in a small tub of sand and let the girls "dig for their treasure" It is fun and very easy to do.

I would hand deliver the invitations. Have your daughter dress up (if that is what you want the guests to do) and go to each child and personally invite them to tea. ( I would personally call the mothers in advance and clear it with them so no one gets their feelings hurt)

Decorations would be easy. Anything pretty and normally "off limits" is a good thing. If you have some glassware, just fill it with pink tissue and put it around. It looks great and very cheap.

Have a great time.

For my dd's 3rd birthday, we got her Cinderella II dreams come true. We invited all her friends to come in costume and watch it with us for her birthday (think dinner theater). We sent out movie ticket invitations -

Please Join us for a private Screenin of
Cinderella II: Dreams Come True
Theater:Elizabeth's House
Showtime 11:00
Admission good for Elizabeth's Friend and Her family

These were done with a cinderella graphic and printed like an enlarged classic movie ticket. Included in the invitation were "complimentary concession coupons". Printed one for popcorn, one for candy and one for drinks. we set up a stand in the living room.

The kids loved the Idea but it was a bit over their heads as the majority of them had never been to the movie theater. The plan was since the movie was in 3 segments. watch segment one eat lunch. watch segment 2 have cake. watch segment 3 open presents. however we couldnt tear her away from the movie. Guess i should have let her watch it once before hand.

For cake a friend made a barbie cake but I bought a Cinderella barbie style doll and we put that in the cake and she decorated the dress like cinderella.

I have also myself made small barbie cakes using the small pampered chef mixing bowl (about half a cake) and Kelly dolls. These could probably done to like like various princesses. For her fourth birthday we did 4 or these miniature barbie cakes.

For my daughter's 4th or 5th b-day we had a tea party. Ours was themed to Alice in Wonderland.
We made the invitations from colored paper, in the shape of a teapot. We decorated the front yard with giant playing cards made from posterboard and made Cheshier cat street signs that said "that way--->" to the party. We served real tea using real china, heart-shape pbj sandwiches, cookies, and decorate-your-own cupcakes.

Your local craft store may have plastic glass slippers you can fill with party favors. You could create invitations and present them rolled like a scroll.

I forgot for party favors, for the younger siblings (most about 18 months old) I got some clearanced disney store 7 dwarfs (i know it was slightly off theme but it was still disney lol) and I dont remember what all I did but I ordered Cinderella Trading cards from BillBam.com. I just looked at their site though and I dont remember paying that much so maybe I managed it somewhere else. They are about $2 a pack or $36 a box there.

For my DD's 1st birthday I made princess hats:
I used a regular cone shaped party hat. Then used a yard of tulle, per hat, and stuffed one end into the opening of the party hat. Then, I got curling ribbon bows (dollar store, 3 for a $1) and applied the paper baking to the inside of the hat, then secured both with a few staples. Girls loved them. The boys got bubble swords ($1 at the dollar store). Our own Prince Charmings!

For the cake; I made a sheet cake, wrote her name in icing, used edible glitter, to give it a special touch, and made a princess hat to top it off. Bought large waffle cones, painted 1 with edible spray paint, and used a small piece of tulle, that I carefully put into the pointed end. I say carefully because they broke easily. I bought an entire box of cones for $2 - $3. simple and easy for a birthday.

Invitations; I found some "pricessey" looking computer paper, typed out the invitation in official princess language, and rolled it like a scroll. If we couldn't hand deliver them, I mailed them in paper towel rolls.

Have fun! princess:

We did a treasure hunt at that age. I hid "hints" in envelopes in one room of the house. In the basement I'd set up the neighbors plastic play castle and put the treat bags in there.

The hints were pictures and were numbered so the girls had to put them in order and it told them what to do... I just found clip art to tell this story.

1. Go down the stairs
2. Through the door
3. Where there is a castle
4. Guarded by a giant (my husband)
5. Sing to the giant
6. He will fall asleep
7. Inside the castle
8. Presents.

My kind of thread!! I love planning Bday parties and the Princess ones have been so much fun!

DD had a Cinderella party in August and I bought the WDW castle computer paper on our trip. I copied off all the important party details on the castle paper and then put a piece of light blue vellum paper (scrapbooking supply) over top. I then punched two holes at the top and tied a blue ribbon through. The invitation invited the guests to our castle and they turned out really neat.

For favor bags/boxes I bought castle shaped sand molds. I put all of the favors inside and then put the mold inside a clear plastic bag and tied it with curling ribbon. Inside the mold I included DP stickers, DP gummies, mini Hershey bars with personalized Cinderella wrappers (eBay), the cutest Cinderella royal coach bubble sets that I bought at Toys R Us in the spring/summer section, DP pencils, a glass slipper filled with candy tied up in a tulle bag (wedding section of Michael's Craft store), push pops with personalized labels (I made these all by myself on the computer), and a cute light up Cinderella figure that I got on clearance at the Disney Store. Our Dollar Tree has cute little Cinderella dolls right now in the Toy Department. They are plastic Polly Pocket style dolls with a removable dress and shoes.

Wilton Cake decorating makes DP cupcake papers and cute little Cinderella cupcake toppers. I made a cupcake tower using two glass tiered cake plates. I decorated the cupcakes with white icing and blue sprinkles. I put the cupcakes on the glass cake plates and Then I put a large Cinderella figure in the middle of the top plate and used curling ribbon in white, silver, light blue. The curling ribbon hung down over the sides and it looked GREAT!! I also purchased castle and Cinderella coach candy molds on eBay and molded white chocoate in them. You could use a crown shaped cookie cutter for the sandwiches.

For games and activites... I found the cute C. glass slippers at our Dollar Tree in the wedding section. We had an "egg hunt" with the slippers in our yard. You could play pin the star on the Fairy Godmother's wand, or Pass the Slipper.

We are planning a Little Mermaid or Snow White themed party for this year so if you want any specific ideas for them PM me.

HAVE FUN!!

:wizard: when my dd was 5 we had a "going to the ball " party as the children arived we handed each one a feather duster and my friend put a bandanna and apron on them and instructed them wher to dust When all the children aruived we layed out silk material (cut to go over their clothes ) gave girls glitter rhinestones and somew glue when they were done with their creations we played a little then it was time for the ball !! the girls tookm off their aprons and put on their gowns my girlfrien removed the bandannas and each girl received a crown from prince charming " my very helpfell and cute nephew" and the music started the girls were so suprised and delighted it was a blast princess:

My DD just had a 4th b'day - princess style. Invitation were printed from the computer on vellum paper and then rolled and tied with silver ribbon. They read:
Hear Ye! Hear He!
Her Majesty Princess *** of the house of (your last name) requires your presence at the celebration of the 4th year of her birth, at her castle (your address) on the * day of (month).
Your carriage should drop you off at (time) and return for you at (time)
RSVP to Queen (me).
Gowns required and jewels too, nothing short of a royal celebration will do!!

It was easy and affordable. We delivered them as there were only a few girls and they all lived close. They we're excited to get them. We also made miniature cakes. Wilton sells the dress shape cake pan (4 little dresses in it) and I put little Kelly dolls in them and frosted them. The girls then decorated them and took them home.

I also made crowns from silver poster board and they decorated with jewels and stickers and wore them at the party. It was a fun day!

These ideas are great!! we're having a Tinkerbell party for my DD's 5th birthday this year...any ideas for activities/fun things to do?

WE had a princess themed party for my niece. As I was hanging the streamers, I noticed the box for our new dresser. The model name for our new dresser was 'castle.' I got an idea; I used purple acrylic paint on the sides, plastic ties to secure the top flaps (Not closed, but sticking up), and panted them gray. Then I repainted the top flaps using special 'rock' spray paint. I trimmed the line between the purple/gray with yellow construction paper, and cut and trimmed a door. Last, I made two towers using streamers and construction paper cones. IT looked great, and the kids had a blast! Overall, it was pretty easy to make. I watered down the paint, so it wasn't very expensive at all.

I also made a pastel colored sheet cake (white frosting, pastel trim). Michael's Crafts had this amazing purple cake 'glitter' that looks great. I also used cookie cutters to make designs which I then traced with gel icing from a tube. It was pretty easy, and made a great looking cake!
