We've planned to go to Disney end of March. My youngest 3.5, very excited wanted to get a princess makeover. I just saw in another thread that the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique will not open until April 4th.

1) is there any other places to get a princess type makeover? If not, what suggestions could you give me?

2) in your opinion would it be worth rescheduling our trip for a week later so ensure she gets this experience? Keep in mind that would push us into the week of April 5-7th... (spring break crowds?)

thoughts? Thanks for reading!

Where did you see that it was opening April 4th?

As for rescheduling, does your family go to DLR often? Are you close by?

Over at Princess Fantasy Fair they have a princess makeover type deal over there. PFF is right before the Toon Town/Fantasyland train station. I'm not sure on the prices though.

I'm almost positive they will keep that up until BBB is finished.

When we were there in November my DD had her hair done over at the Princess Faire, it was over there by Toon Town on the left side. She enjoyed it alot...It cost us $30.00 +tax of $2.33= 32.33 for that amount she got to choose her hairstyle and they supply all the ribbons and finish it off with a healthy amount of "safe" glitter, which I asked about ("will it get in her eyes?") and the lady doing my DD hair responded with "If it was dangerous would I do this?" then proceeded to rub a finger full of glitter into her eye. I could tell it wasnt comfortable but she wasnt about to let us see that she was in pain...it was REALLY bizarre and I kept glancing at my DH who had a look of horror on his face as did I!!!!....

Anyway...my DD loved having her hair done and got alot of compliments that day...all in all it was worth it
Ive also heard recently that they are closing down certain areas of the Princess faire, not sure if the hair styling part is going to be affected or not?!?!?

They’ve discontinued the princess storytelling and coronation ceremony. Basically the things that don’t make money, besides the meet and greet. But the makeover stations, the meet and greet, and the little store are still there.

Are they going to replace the coronation ceremony with something else, or restart it when the busy season picks back up? Did they move the princess storytelling back over to the princess store in FL where it used to be, or are they done with the storytelling all together?

TIA!

For those of you that have been recently and done the hair thing, Did you have to make some kind of reservations to do it. I know with the BBB you should call and make reservations beforehand. We are leaving on saturday and I didn't realize that there was still a place to have there hair done at. My daughter would love this.

They took both out completely due to budget cuts. They might start it back again if the economy gets rolling again, I'm assuming. I don't think there were any plans to remove the stage, so there is a possibility they could bring it back.

The princess store in FL was taken out in order to bring Bippity Boppity Boutique to the West Coast.

:thumbsup2

I don't think they do reservations. When we went, you just went up to them and picked out what you wanted done from a little book :)

There pretty high, but I also dont know what the prices for the bibbity bobbity boutique are. We talked my sister out of a make over because she wanted to have it done and then ride Indi, as if her hair wasn't:scared1: gonna blow around

I went to DL as a young girl.. I now have 2 (3, 8) girls who have never been and we are taking them the end of March. We are from Denver, CO. We driving into Vegas, to visit in-laws and then heading to SoCal. It should be fun. I am still a little bumped and lost as to what to do for princess type makeovers!

I am still unclear what the difference is between the PFF salon and the BBB (other than locationi)?

It might be worth a call to DLR to find out if there is a difference and if it is basically the same thing, I would just do the PFF.

If you changed your vacation dates, would it force you to change the whole week? Or could you just bump the dates back a few days so you could be at the park on the 4th and then head home on the 5th?

There was only PFF or libby lu. Libby lu has went out of buisness, and I was told by a CM they closed everything but the meet and greets with the princesses when they did the cut backs, so I wanted to make sure if you are going before the BBB opens the CM said there are NO princess makeovers being done till BBB. You might want to consider buying ribbons, and sparkles and do it before going to the park in your hotel, and maybe just buying her a princess dress and shoes in the park.

Shopping the parks
Notes from the shops of the Disneyland Resort:

Downtown Disney lost another tenant when the pop culture-themed Starabillias shop closed two weeks ago, creating the fourth vacancy in the Resort's shopping center. The Illuminations candle shop is also slated to close later this spring, and some Downtown Disney-area employees say they are worried about the future of some of the other independent retailers. While Disney has not officially announced any new tenants for Downtown Disney, a cast member tells us that a store they called the "Star Shop" will soon open in the space recently vacated by Club Libby Lu. According to this cast member, the Star Shop is very similar to Club Libby Lu, and will offer fashion makeovers for both children and adults. Cast members also say that workers carrying blueprints have been spotted coming and going from the space vacated last fall by Department 56, but we haven't heard any reliable information about a potential future tenant.
Disneyland's Bibbity Bobbity Boutique is reportedly still on schedule to open in Fantasyland's remodeled Once Upon a Time shop on April 4, 2009. The Boutique, already popular with young visitors to Walt Disney World, will offer Prince and Princess makeovers, as well as sell a selection of costumes and accessories.
