Princess Half Marathon Weekend 2025 (Feb 20-24 2025)

As others have said, your kids can come with you! If this is your first RunDisney event, I'm assuming you've never been to an expo before. When you arrive you'll need to go to one building to pick up your bib. Then you'll head to another building to pick up your race shirt. This is done on the main expo floor, so you can walk around and browse all of the booths from outside companies (lots to look at and lots to purchase!). After all of that, if you want any of the race-exclusive merch, you'll have to head to another building (if you go earlier in the day, this will require a spot in the VQ).

From my experience, the expo is much more crowded in the morning when it opens than in the afternoon just before closing. In the morning there are lots of lines (lines to pick up bibs, lines for characters, waiting for the VQ for merch, then lines in the building once your VQ is called), which obviously takes more time. The times I've gone in the evening, I've been able to walk right in to pick up my bib with minimal waiting. If you want race-exclusive merch, I'd recommend joining the VQ since that merch tends to go quickly on day 1.

If you just want to run in & quickly pick up your bib, that can be achieved in less than an hour (if you go in the evening). If you truly want to take your time and browse, I'd say up to 3 hours.
Very helpful! Thank you. We're planning to go to AK during the day and then head to the expo in the afternoon/evening (around 5 or 6pm). It goes until 8pm right? So that would give us 2-3 hours. Are we better off driving to the park and the expo? Staying at AKV.

Yes, looks like it's open until 8pm on Thursday. I've never taken the bus to the expo (I usually stay with a friend that lives locally), so I can't speak to how long the wait for a bus typically is. I would imagine driving would be quicker (since you'd have to take the bus from AK to AKV, then a separate bus to the expo), but it's a personal preference if you want to wait on busses!

The buses usually run about every 20 minutes, I think.

Finally chiming in on the medals. I love them! This is my first Princess weekend (mainly doing it to complete a perfect runDisney season) and it looks like I picked a good one.
The medals are gooood this year! I was going to do the challenge only but they got me with the Mulan 5k. I need that on my medal display.

When you start to understand your DVC point usage a little too well.....

There was (at least this morning) a standard view resort studio at VGF for PW on the dvc site. We still have some "leftover" points to get used up this year. And I told DH about it, because theoretically if I could grab a "leftover" charity challenge bib with no fundraising requirements, I could justify going down and running the challenge. But if there aren't any of those bibs that end up coming available I would be "stuck" with points in holding. HOWEVER. We have a 2-night trip at the end of spring break (end of March...week before SS of course) and I could theoretically take points that would go into holding from a cancelled PW reservation and apply them to the spring break stay. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Someone talk me out of pitching this to DH.

I'm now starting to over think my travel plans. I booked with Southwest to travel the Thursday before the race weekend, and then they changed my flight time from early to stupid early. It's so early I'm questioning whether it's worth trying to get any sleep that night. My parents suggested I get a hotel room by the airport since I live about two hours away, and now I'm thinking if I do that, should I switch my flight to Wednesday evening and just stay at a hotel by MCO? So now I'm looking at flight times Wednesday afternoon and hotels in Orlando.
I’m a sw girl myself.I personally tend to take extra early flights out of dodge in past when I’ve had later flight it gets delayed d/t weather issues somewhere ( darn winter storms). I live about hour from airport and get hotel near airport night prior, but for friend either limited flight options or nothing anywhere close to. My flight times-she has flown in night before and just stayed at hotel close to MCO until I get in and get her from her hotel. Only issues we’ve had were shuttles not running late enough and myself having to stay up to book her an uber and make sure she got to hotel safe. She isn’t super tech savvy so it’s tour guide Barbie me doing booking.

I’ve made my ADRs. My dining is front loaded with my QS points on the dining plan, and my TS will be after the half. Even though I mapped out what I wanted, I switched from Trattoria al Forno to Beaches and Cream Sunday night. TaF only had spots after 8pm and Beaches had a 5:20 slot. Given that I’ll be awake at 2am for the half, I don’t think I’ll be able to make it to 8pm for dinner, or really anything.

HI! This is my first Run Disney even and I am doing it all! The 5k and the Challenge and then a lovely yoga session. (yes I do make bad decisions!)

I am so excited and training. This will be my second half marathon...and the most expensive.

Anywho, Hi All!

The amount of mental bargaining and gymnastics I'm doing, trying to figure out how to get down there for this race weekend (assuming I can snag a bib) is ridiculous. Flight cost is majorly prohibitive at this point. And DH wasn't really keen on the whole idea since spring break is a month later for us.

Ooooh, what if I fly into St. Pete, stay at my parents on Thursday night, get my mom to come over with me on Friday-Sunday so I don't have to rent a car, and then spend Sunday night back at their house and then fly back into a DIFFERENT airport on Monday, I can do the flights for $180ish. But then DH would have to take off Thursday, Friday, and Monday to take care of DD unless I took her with me. And then he'd just have to take off Monday to pick us up. And I can grab a night at AK right now and then waitlist another night, but I'd need OTU points to finish a reservation, OR borrow them from our other contract's next UY. It's just silly.

I have a friend joining me this year for the 5k. This is her first runDisney event. She has never been to WDW, or traveled that much at all, for that matter.

We were talking last night, she has been having some health issues. She was told by her doctor that it would be preferable for her to walk with poles. I looked on the runDisney site but I can't find any info on that sort of accommodation. Does anyone know if that is permitted, and if so, how she goes about getting approved for that?

I'm definitely worried for her. I have tried to explain what the experience is going to be like, but I feel like she has no idea what she has signed on for.

I've seen people using poles on the course, wearing "Athlete with Disability" signs. She should use the contact form, email or call runDisney to ask about accommodation. If she has a doctor's note, she may just need to present that at runner relations at the expo. At this point, I would wait until after Marathon Weekend to make sure her request isn't lost in the craziness!

Thanks for the reply. Good point about marathon weekend. I'll have her reach out in a few weeks.

Hello! This is my first RunDisney event and I’ll be doing the half to celebrate my 40th (which is on the 20th)!! I’m trying to finalize some plans and help my husband with the spectating situation. We are staying at Saratoga Springs and will have a car. I’m trying to figure a few things out:
1.) Should we drive to Epcot? This way my husband can wait in the car and stay warm and comfortable? He definitely wants to be there at the finish line and maybe get over to TTC too if feasible.
2.) Or should he take the bus? Either the first one with me or the last one that leaves the resort for the race so he doesn’t have to wait outside as long?
3.) I didn’t submit proof of time and it looks like it threw me into 3:00-3:30. I know I can run it faster than that, but I don’t really mind. Since I’ll probably be in the last coral, what time can I expect everything to finish by? Trying to figure out if a 12pm brunch booking at Summer House is reasonable considering I want to get back to SSR to shower first.
4.) With #3 in mind, would the bus or driving be easier post race? I know the roads will be a bit nuts and we’re not super familiar with driving around WDW.

Anyway, I’m really excited! My training hasn’t been going as well as I’d like (I’m not getting as many runs in per week as I’d like) but I’m steadily increasing my mileage each week and I feel really confident! *knock on wood

Any other first time RunDisney runner advice/tips?

My wife and daughter are running the princess half, and they have a brunch reservation around 11:30. They did the same last year and were able to finish, return to AKV, shower, and make their breakfast/brunch at Boma without any problem.

Hope this helps figure your timing and you have a great time (and happy birthday)!

The last runners start around 6am and have 3h30 to finish. So the latest you could finish is around 9:30 am.
