Princess Dresses

I am going to DLP on monday 1st time yay!!! lol with 4 girls ranging from 8 down to 4, does anyone know whether is it worth them taking their princess dresses?

They dont know where we are going yet im gonna tell them sunday night.

We have a character meal booked at Cafe Mickey on our first night, do people get dressed up? or is it ok to wear jeans etc?

Deffo - Our youngest neece has already planned which princess dress she is going to wear on which day - and there are more dresses than days -

Reasons - The girls will love dressing up as their favourite pincesses
- The characters and cast members should make more fuss of your girls because they are dressed up
- You are going to love seeing them and you should get the all important photos with their fave princesses in the same dress -

From what I understand - either is fine.

I know people who go in jeans and t-shirts and I know people who have been dolled up in best frocks.

I wouldn't go Top Hat and Tails personally but I think anything should be completely acceptable.

Have a fantasic time - we are very jealous

It soundsl like we'll be at Disneyland the same time!
It's always a fun time to see kids dress up and pretend
to be someone else. Kids sure have a great imagination!

It'll be my first time at DLP, also. But, I have been to
WDW. Well, actually, I went to Walt Disney Studios and
MGM Park, as well as EPCOT.

It'll probably be Walt Disney Studios again for me, again
since I love the movies!

we've just returned and do take your girls dresses. we saw lots of little girls dressed up and my little one took her belle dress and her spotty dress that is like a minnie mouse dress.

Go as dressed up as you want!!!

We saw people just in jeans and t-shirts in cafe mickey but its up to you what you feel comfortable in.

little girls always ove to dress up.

they will be so excited on sunday when you tell them.

Thank you all for your help and advise...looks like i might need a bigger suitcase to fit all the princess dresses in lol

It looks like its going to rain all the time we are there but hopefully it wont spoil our fun!!!

Im getting excited now good job the kids dont know yet cos they wouldnt sleep between now and monday lol

We ate at cafe mickey last year and my little girl dressed up as Minnie, then when Mickey and Minnie came out they both made a big fuss of her and let her dance with them. Also when the princesses come out there were loads of little girls dressed up as their favourite. Definalty worth squashing them in a suit case it makes them feel part of disney.

I would love for my DD (6) to dress up but we go when its freezing...is there away round this....has anyone done 'dress up' in January?
Thought about thermals underneath but think it would still be too cold. I suppose we could slip it on and off just so she feels special!!

We are the opposite when we go in July I see DD5 melting wearing her Belle or Sleeping Beauty outfit Trying to find a lightweight outfit such as Tinkerbell or Minnie Mouse dress

In April this year it was too hot for Snow white dress and Cinderella one for my 2 DDs !!!! They had vest top and shorts and were still too hot! Depends what you're used to I guess... But dining at cafe mickey is great dressed up (the kids that is - I'm not that into Disney!!) - when we went there were people in Ts and shorts all the way up to "Sunday best"

Thermals and woollen tights would be a good idea, (maybe even a polo neck sweater if it didn't spoil the look of the Princess outfit of course )

Claire, l definitely think it would be worth them taking their Princess dresses.
I think it's lovely to see children dressed up. It makes a magical place even more special for them.
I have happy memories of the days when my DD (now age 10 and sadly passed the Princess stage ) dressed up while at Disney. At least we'll always have the photos from then.

We didnt take DDs dress last year and regretted it. We kept looking at them in shops and would have been tempted to buy another but the prices were sooo high.

This year we took her Belle dress and she loved dressing up in it. As it was so hot she wore it for a while then took it off. She put it on when we lined to see characters and for special meals. When 'queuing' to see the princesses amongst the rabble Belle picked her out and pulled her in towards her. She was also greeted by Sleeping Beauty with "Bonjour Belle".

I would say definitely take them or you will end up regretting it and perhaps buying more.

When we went in March it was fairly warm (Tshirt and jeans weather) but I still put my DD's thermal leggings and thermal vest under her Aroura dress so she wouldn't have to wear a coat or jumper if she didn't want to.

If we were there in winter I would do the same but also add thick, warm trousers and jumpers under the dress.
Then any other coat's etc over the top. We saw many, many children wearing clothes under or over there princess dresses and I'm sure they still had the same enjoyment.

I choose to buy a size bigger in dressing up outfits for my DD so she gets maximum use out of them, so if you plan on buying one for the trip it might be a useful tip for wearing over clothes in winter.

Or maybe if its really cold/wet just choose a couple of special meals for her to be a princess.

Thank you all for your advise...we have decided to let the girls take one princess dress with them, if they want to....ive been checking the weather for next week and it looks like we are gonna have showers/rain so im thinking that they could wear the dresses for the character meal we have booked at Cafe MIckey on Monday night and then if they manage to keep them clean and the weathers not too wet they can wear them in the parks but at least they will have worn them one night at least!!!

When we went in March 06 we were frozen......the lake/river was frozen over with thick ice....... are you sure it was Paris you were in and not Florida Nah only kidding...bad weather follows me!!!! When we went in Jan 07 I had on thick tights,long johns and jeans and it was still freezing...it stung out lungs!!! I gotta stop being so tight fisted and maybe try a summer holiday!!!! I have a ski suit to take with me in Jan 08!!!
I'm defo taking a dress or 2 though with me (for DD) cause photos with that on would be sooo much better than looking like eskimo Joe!!!!
