I want to buy the princess dresses for my grandaughters - ages 2 to 4 for the 1900 Park Fare dinner. Their moms told me to be careful because some are itchy and the girls won't wear them.

I would like to order from the Disney store onlne as they seem to be on sale. How will I know if they are itchy? Has anyone got any of them? One girl only wears pink. I looked at the Aurura dress but it has long see-through sleeves. Is that practical for October? Are the sleeves itchy? Are there any other pink options? Thanks for your help.

My dd's Aurora dress from TDS (2 yrs old..) still fits her, but is VERY itchy. I've used a slip before, but it looks awful! I wish I could figure something else out before our trip next month... :confused3

Also, we went to WDW last Oct. before our cruise, and it was still pretty hot then. I think the princess dresses are a bit much, but Jasmine or Tinker Bell wouldn't be quite as bad. Good luck & have fun!!! :sunny:

My DD4 always complains about the seams and such being itchy. (Where the waistband meets the bodice especially.) My MIL gets like fleece binding ribbon or something and sews it up one sid of the seam and then folds it over the seam and sews it over. (To totally encase the scratchy seam.) HTH.

Our DD3, is obsessed with her Snow White Costume - wants to wear it every waking moment. It is not itchy at all on her, but she still has her Minnie Mouse Costume that IS somewhat itchy. Have you looked at the Sleeping Beauty one, since you indicated one daughter liked pink? Sorry I don't know more.

TDS ones do tend to be a little better quality, but they can sometimes have an itchy spot where the materials meet. Just feel around inside it and if you can cut it down a little, try that, if not, just sew (or even use fabric glue) something soft over it. It doesn't have to be a perfect job, it's on the inside! :smooth:

I think they are itchy, so much so that I made my kids (2 & 4yo), their princess dresses this go round. I used soft cotton in the right color combinations for snow white, and they were very comfy--not hot or itchy! They also LAST--my 2 year old is going to wear the dress I made for her big sister in 2003, and it is still in great shape! I just did a new one for my 4yo, to match for this trip...
I also made cinderella dresses, which were a little more difficult, as the fabric was slippery (but again, I used good quality fabric, so they were very comfortable! :)

Any time you have sequins, tulle or eyelash fabric next to the skin, you get itchiness. IME a slip won't help much because the worst of it is under the arms and around the neckline. Tacking matching fleece seam binding on to face the seams is the best way to combat this on a store-bought dress.

I'm finding the same thing....the Cinderella dress at the Dstore is very itchy and I honestly don't think she'd wear it (end of Sept) I did buy SW from Walmart last year and although it isn't quite as fancy as the ones from Disney store it's pretty and very soft and not itchy. I'm thinking of taking a run over there for Cinderella.

I agree that the tulle is itchy and my youngest won't wear it. I bought their dresses off ebay from a different seller, but they are the same as the ones from here http://stores.ebay.com/My-Dress-Up-Trunk . No itchy material and they look cute too :) They are not as fancy as the ones from The Disney Store, but they are really nice.

One thought, depending on the weather in Oct. is to wear a turtle neck under the dress. When my DD was allowed to wear the Cinderella dress to school (storybook character day) she wore a white turtle neck under it (it was Jan.) and it still looked really cute (this one was a Disney Store dress).

My daughter has been a Disney princess every year for Halloween from the Disney store and they do tend to be itchy and hard to get over their heads as there is no zipper and the waist bands do not stretch. To make it more comfy I put a tank under it or a turtleneck, depending on the weather. The stockings helped the itching on the bottom of it. This year I decided to do Lillian vernon Cinderella to see if that one is more comfy on her.

We just bought the Lillian Vernon Cinderella and Aurora dresses. They have no TULLE underneath...........no itchies. We also have dresses from the My Little Dress Up Trunk store on EBAY......no Tulle.......no itchies. Three years ago we got a Belle dress from TDS and it has no itchies. However, we have every dress from walmart and target (barbie and princess). My girls wear those dresses less than five minutes each and change. We have so many girls in and out of our house playing dress up every week I should be an expert on all these dresses!!!!
