Princess dresses: dealing with the stench

umm I always just tossed ours is the washing.. came out fine. less glitter over time.. but really, fine.

I've never tried it, but some professional and amateur costumers swear by spraying costumes with vodka--the alcohol smell goes away and so does the sweat/etc. smell. You could try it on some non-princess-dress fabric first to make sure the smell comes out but I do believe it does.

!

Yup! as the owner of many satin/lace/tulle/you name it delicate ballet costumes that are worth hundreds each, vodka works the best. Cheap vodka works fine, but it in a spray bottle, I use two squirts per underarm. It smells at first, but the smell will go away. Vodka won't stain satin like water will, because it evaporates so quickly.
