I met a woman at the mall yesterday that told me about a princess-type dinner at the Grand Floridian. She said it isn't advertised like the other character meals. I've never heard of it, but it sounds interesting. She had a friend that went, said the dinner is set in a ballroom, fairy godmothers sprinkle guests with fairy dust, the daughter got the honor of opening the ballroom doors before everyone entered, etc. Has anyone heard of, or actually participated in this? If so, please tell! Are there priority seating arrangements available?

This is from WDW web sit: We are planning on this for our next trip.

Be charmed by a sumptuous buffet as you gather for an enchanting dinner as a Guest of Cinderella herself. The Princess's storybook friends join in the festivities as you have a "ball" dining on delectable seafood, salad, pasta and beef specialties. Also, enjoy a "practically perfect in every way" breakfast with Mary Poppins and pals. Or drop in on an afternoon tea party for younger Guests, hosted by your favorite Disney Characters from "Alice in Wonderland."

We did this dinner last December for my daughter's birthday and it was wonderful. Cinderella, Prince Charming, Fairy Godmother, the mice, etc. all came and sat down at our table with us and chatted with my daughter. We were there right before they closed and there was hardly anyone else around so we received lots of quality time with the characters. I highly recommend it. We had four boys with us and even they enjoyed it. Have fun!

We did this dinner in November. Also did not see pixie dust or special door openings. Perhaps we did not have an early enough seating? I think we ate 6-ish. We always start out our 1st Disney evening here - mainly because we LOVE the food - absolutely fabulous salmon, my personal fav. Though all 8 - 10 usual members of our party (kids & adults) went back to the buffet many many times. We had very little character interaction. We briefly saw Cinderella (who seemed extremely bored with the entire ordeal), Prince Charming & 1 of the mice. The second mouse (forgive me, I do not remember their names) and Fairy Godmother never made it to our table. But honestly, we did not mind! We were at Disney in beautiful GF!!! Plus it was the 1st day of our family reunion. I must say though, that we had much better character interaction the next morning at Cindy's breakfast. The character meal at 1900 Park Fare used to be the 'Villains' dinner and it was absolutely fabulous. Some of our best photos & video came from that dinner - some of the best character interaction I've ever seen. I wish they would bring it back!!! But I can't imagine anyone NOT enjoying 1900 Park Fare - even if there were no characters. It's one of our family favorites. ENJOY!

We have done this for 3 trips and have PSs for it this trip. As far as food goes, this one is very good for a buffet. It is 100 times better the CP or Chef Mickeys. I have never been sprinkled with pixie dust nor have I ever seen anyone else either. The godmother sits for pics most of the time out front. The prince, Cindy, mice Suzy and Perla all circulate around the room. This is one of our favorite meals on our trips.

I'm soo excited-DD's 8th birthday (&DH's 37th bday) will be during our trip-this sounds like the perfect place to have dinner to celebrate!!:) :hyper:

Hi ChristyJ:wave2:

It is indeed the perfect place for a celebration (IMHO). Even waiting for your table is enjoyable. The lobby is stunning & they have live music playing, with comfy couches & chairs to wait in. Plus they give you a little gadget that lights up when your table is ready. I notice your countdown calendar puts you there during the holidays? If so, you're in for a real treat. The hotel is just breathtaking during the holidays!!! Huge lobby tree - swaths of garland everywhere - AND a life-size gingerbread house. I guess you can tell it's one of my favorite places! You will LOVE it!!! (At least I hope you will after I've carried on like this) I've read that it is possible to order specialty cakes too, though I have never done this myself. Maybe another Dis-er can help with info :confused3 I'm all excited just thinking about going :hyper: (LOL) My next trip isn't till holiday 2005  so you have to keep us posted. Hope you have a wonderful celebration!!!:jester:

Mickey's Sister-thanks for the info!! We can't wait (well I can't wait-the trip is a surprise for my 2 DDs)-it's our first trip and we've had several people tell us that the princess dinner is a MUST!!

I just read something on another thread about a very interesting special order dessert item available through the GF bakery. It's a white chocolate cinderella slipper filled with custard. Even the plate is made of white chocolate! It's rather pricey at $14.00 - but I was thinking about ChristyJ with your special celebrations and thought this might be something your girls would love. The poster gave the GF bakery number as 407-824-2978. They picked their's up at 1900 Park Fare, so it is probably something you could have for your dessert. The review was posted by CamColt, the thread is Dining Reviews Part 1 under Disney Restaurants. The description is about 1/2 into the first post. Then if you look toward the bottom of the page (later post) she includes pictures as well. I tried unsuccessfully to copy the link - but I don't know if I'm too tired, but it wasn't working for me. Hope this info helps someone!

we went last summer. It was very crowded, and we were under-impressed. We were sandwiched on a bench seat and practically in the laps of the family next to us. My DD, 8, was not in a princess dress, and she felt very "ordinary" (her words) compared to the umpteen budding cinderellas all around us. (You can buy a princess dress at the GF gift shop). I observed that the characters really did seem to be making a much bigger deal over the ones dressed as princesses. My DS has food allergies, and this added to the confusion because a chef was supposed to walk him through the line, but didn't show up for almost half an hour. It felt a little chaotic to figure out which way the characters were going to know when we could slip out for food. Our server finally took pity on us, because cinderella kept going on break, and steered her our way. She seemed to be insisting that she'd already been to us.

I think the bottom line was how ultimately crowded it was--pretty much took away the pixie dust. It could be that their crowd control has improved in the intervening year.

If you are taking a little girl, I'd strongly recommend getting her into some form of princess attire--she's not going to feel dressed for the ball otherwise.

This dinner has been held for some time now and is called Cinderella's Gala Feast :)

We did this dinner in June and it was the best character experience and also the best meal of our entire trip. My kids are 16 and 13 and they made a huge fuss over both of them. My son, the 13 year old, was apparently irresistable to both mice, as they kept coming back to give him kisses and hugs! It was so cute. I got great pictures of that. Both the prince and Cinderella spent a lot of time talking to my 16 year old daughter about being a princess. She wasn't dressed up or anything, I think she just has that princess attitude that shows! Anyway, we all had a great time here. It was one of the few character meals where they didn't practically ignore us for not having small children.

The Disney website says it's a buffet dinner. Prices are $23.99 (12+) and $10.99 (3-9) Any combination of characters may appear including Fairy Godmother, Suzy Mouse, Perla Mouse, Prince Charming, Stepmother and both stepsisters. It doesn't say anything about Cinderella herself.

I'd love to make a PS for our first night. But since we won't get to the BWI until at least 7 pm, I'm not sure we should then make the trek to 1900 Park Fare. We'd have to either take a taxi or take a bus to MK and then the monorail to GF, especially after travelling all day. Does anyone know how long this would take?

Also, does anyone know what times are available for PS reservations for Cinderella's Gala Feast?

Although I wanted to get some Disney magic on our first night, it may be better to save this for another night if it takes too long to get there or they don't have late PS times.
