Maybe I'm just odd but I don't factor the food as if a character meal is "worth" it or not. Sure it's nice to have good food but your really spending a portion of your $$ on the character interaction. So to me .. not having to wait in god awful lines for a long time to spend 2 mins with a princess is worth it's weight in gold!!!
So my thoughts as when my DD's were younger we did them all.
CRT - got to do it once, it's THE CASTLE. We've done this on our honeymoon, with the girls and for both brk and lunch. I think the food here is the worst and you hardly get anything. Pluses .. the photo with cinderalla is great and a nice keepsake, the characters upstairs do spend time with you and since it's a smaller seating you have more time. Personally I hate using credits on this as it's not worth 2 TS so pay OOP .. the picture and experience are worth it.
1900 - One of the best buffets (dinner) and you get great character time. I heard fairy godmother is no longer here as when we last went it was Cinderella, Prince Charming, FGM and the mice. This is nice as you don't really get to interact with Cinderella much at CRT.
Akershus - I didn't care for the food much but it's nice having multiple princesses .. getting access to Ariel alone is worth it (if she's there) as the wait in MK is deadly!
I find dinner's more relaxed as your not anxious about how much time your spending. At breakfast I'm always thinking it's 10am etc and we should be in the park etc.
Keep in mind the tough princesses to spend time with are Cinderella, Snow White, Ariel and Sleeping Beauty. Belle is easy to track down at her story time in MK and France in Epcot. Most of the secondary characters are only in the parades also so getting access to them is a perk.
They are often not in parks and when they are command huge lines so unless you want to spend all day waiting for a quick photo and autograph these "meals" are a godsend!
