princess cartridges

My husband went out today a bought me both princess cartridges for my cricut. He has been on my for buying so much scrap stuff lately. He was excited to tell me that the cartridges were on sale at AC Moore this week. He actually said that I would have to get there today to get the cartridges I wanted. He Said he would go and get them for me this morning because he thought they would be gone before I could get there. I think he really likes my scrapbooks and my scrapbooking, but he would never tell anyone that. I just turned his mom into a scrapper. I don't know, maybe I'll come home one day and find him on my cricut. Who knows what happens when the baby is sleeping?
I plan on playing with the cartridges tomorrow. Any tips or suggestions?

Have fun with them, Cindy!! My only suggestion would be to cut them pretty big at first (at least 5"). That way, you've got enough size that you can tell how to put them together. I haven't done the really detailed stand-up ones yet, but I know just from the face only ones that it is easier to do the big ones.

I am new tho the scrapboard, but I am anxious to hear how they work for you. I just got a cricut on the 1st and the Mickey font and have been playing with the characters on that one and they are tough. I am having the hardest time figuring out how much pressure to put on them for the paper I have and not to have it mess it all up. I also seem to be getting a lot of "icky" areas when they do cut. Any tips on how to work this thing? '

I have both princess carts too, and they are amazing! I agree that it's best to do some of the detailed, stand up princesses in the large sizes. I have the Expression, and like to make them around 7-9 inches tall. Even then, the eyes and lips can be pretty tiny. I got tired of trying to deal with cutting out the whites and the irises of the eyes, and the teeth, so now I just do those parts with a gel pen, and you would never know. They turn out great that way, and it's MUCH easier. Just get a good white gel pen, and you'll want to color the teeth in before you put the lips on.

Honestly, I think if you just have the regular Cricut, some of those stand up princesses would be pretty tough to do - unless you're way more patient than I am!

great suggestion, i have trouble with the small ones. do the white gel pens work good on the black background, then i will need to go buy some

My only suggestion is make sure you use a new sharp blade. Some of the pieces are so small that a dull blade just tears there paper instead of cutting it nicely. I have both but have yet to use them. I have used my M&F a few times.
