Princess 1/2 marathon question

My daughter is wanting to run in the princess 1/2 marathon next year. We see that there is the 5k, 10k, half marathon and the glass slipper challenge. She wants to do them all. She is in high school and is on the cross country team, and a distance runner for the indoor and outdoor track team.

Anyway, my question is how do I register for these races. Do I have to register for each one individually or do I register her for the glass slipper challenge and that covers all of them? I am kind of confused by this because the glass slipper challenge registration fee is a lot more than the individual races so I was wondering if that one covers all of them or not.

Any info that you can share with me is greatly appreciated since this will be her first Disney race. Thanks in advance.

The Glass Slipper Challenge, at a huge price, covers all the runs. Go to the RunDisney site and sign up for notifications. RunDisney will send out emails prior to the sign-ups which should be sometime in the summer for the Princess events.

Great. Thank you for the info and I will sign up for notifications. Thanks again!!

You're welcome! Plan to stay onsite for the Princess weekend. RunDisney charters buses that run to and from the Expo where she will pick up all her race materials. On race mornings, charter buses get the runners and their families to the race start.

It is amazing how efficiently everything runs from the Expo to the races to the decor at DTD/Disney Springs. You'll have a great time - it's quite fun... you should join her in the 5K!

Actually the GSC is only the 10k and 1/2 marathon. You would need to sign up for the 5k separately.

We are planning on staying onsite and I was wondering how we would get to the races so thank you for that info.

We are thinking of running the 5k as a family and then she will run the other two races on her own with us cheering her on. We are not nearly as fit as she is so...... I think anything over a 5k would be pretty hard on the rest of us. LOL

As a Mom of 3 high school runners...just make sure your daughters coaches are on board with this. My kids all ran/run all three seasons (cross country, winter/indoor track and spring track.). Events 5k and over that are not sanctioned by the school/state athletic association are not generally allowed. I believe this rule is only for during the season not necessarily year round or in between seasons as my daughter had thought about doing the princess half at one point which occurs between seasons for her. I'm sure different states and schools may have different rules too. Just an FYI. It would stink to plan and get excited and not be able to participate. I hope she can run it we saw them all last year and it looked like fun! (Which is why my dd considered it).

As pointed out, the Glass Slipper Challenge just covers the 10k and half marathon, you need to register for the 5k separately. The extra fee covers the extra shirt and medal you receive. Usually it's about $30 or so more to do the challenge, so you are basically paying for the "free" shirt and medal. I do suggest registering for the challenge first as that tends to sell out first, and then do the 5k for the whole family.

One more tip, these races sell out extremely quickly. I would recommend you sign up immediately when they open since you have so many people. The 2015 race registration was horrible with delays and bogged down systems.
