What do you think of tonight's act? . I held my breath when I heard that he was going to do something patriotic. Some areas are just touchy to play around with. I think tonight's performance may have hurt him.

Not my favorite performance. I liked the first week and last week much better. I can't put my finger on what it was tonight...maybe the dancing White House? I don't know, it seemed just a tad too much. Too cheesy? I'm still a big fan, though! I voted for him and Michael Grimm. I'm guessing the final four are going to be Fighting Gravity, Prince Poppycock, Jackie Evancho and maybe Michael Grasso?

I loved that it was completely over the top ... dancing White House and all! It showed another aspect of his PP character.

What did you think was "touchy" about it? He's a proud American just like Sam the Eagle.

I just watched it again. I love his voice and it was kind of hard to hear this week. The music was too loud IMHO. I thought that a little last week too. He got a little drowned out and since his voice is amazing, that's a shame.

I'll tell you one thing if those singing sisters get voted through and not Prince Poppycock, I will be done with AGT. In fact if they get voted through over anyone I might be done.

WaltD4Me- You picked my top 5. Shame it is only 4 going through.

I agree, while I feel for the sisters, I didn't think they should have gone through last time.

Robinb- Anything concerning "God & Country" can get touchy for some people if they feel it is done in poor taste, too much parody, or too over the top. ( Me, I am always over the top.) I agree!!! Tonight's show reminded me of the Muppet's 3d show at Uni. :lmao:

I wasn't too impressed with his performance last night either.
But, here's my problem with America's Got Talent this year (and I may get flamed for this):

It seems as if the judges have treated this season as "America's Got a Great Story" instead of finding the acts who could sustain a 60 minute + show in Vegas. For example, the two singing sisters (in MY opinion) are not anywhere near good enough to headline a show...and haven't been for the last few rounds. They have an AMAZING story....but I don't think they have the talent it takes.

In addition - and I know I probably stand against 75% of the viewership on this - don't think the ballroom dancers could fill their own show at their age. What always baffles me is this: we've never heard of them being classified as champions for their age group - which means there are kids their age winning youth ballroom dancing competitions all over the world. Also - very few acts out there are only a pair of ballroom dancers for an entire show. There may be groups like on Dancing With the Stars, but the dancers rotate so you see variety.

I do love this show - and I enjoy the level-headedness that Howie has brought to the judges panel. I couldn't believe it when Sharon had the final say a few weeks back about who moved on and (I believe) it was b/w the Kite-flying kid and the two girls and she said, "I'd rather break one heart instead of two," and sent the girls through. I repeat - it's NOT America's Got a Great Story.

Again: these are just my opinions.

In my opinion, there are three acts this year that could sustain a 60 - 90 minute show.

Prince Poppycock
Grasso
Fighting Gravity

There are some very talented folks performing...but if the goal is to find a Las Vegas headliner....these are the only options.

Jackie Evancho has an amazing talent, but would you pay $75 bucks to watch her perform for an hour? I wouldnt. I think I would lose my mind and the "heavenly" lighting would blind me.

By the way.....the two sisters should be performing at county fairs. Again, my opinion.

I concur - if those three aren't in the finals - it will be a disappointment.
While I didn't love Poppycock's performance last night - he is definitely one of the most talented left in the competition.

I completely agree with this whole post. I haven't seen the appeal of the sisters or the dancers since the beginning. Yes, they are good, but not AGT winner good...or actually even Top 10 finalist good IMHO. I was also shocked Sharon picked the sisters. Of the two acts that she was deciding on the kite act should have gone through. Not saying he was the best act on the show but between him and the sisters he was.

I also love Howie Mande on the showl. I really didn't watch the last couple years because I can't STAND David Hasselhoff. I won't be watching Dancing this season because of him either.

I definitely agree with this! The rest of the acts are ok, and I would put Jackie Evancho as the fourth finalist just because she is so talented. Never watched AGT before, but I did enjoy this season despite not agreeing with some of the acts that have moved on (i.e. the ballroom dancers or the sisters). I wish the "fire guy" had moved on a little further - I wonder what he could have done with a bigger budget.

My problem with the fire guy was: with his last performance - there was no illusion in his illusion. The stage was covered in 2 feet of smoke and we were never even shown the device he got into and then escaped out of. It was fairly obvious all he did was crawl out underneath and climb up the back of the stairs. It was almost as if he said, "the cooler the fire is - the less you'll care that there's no coll illusion."

P.S. - with the wonders of DVR, I saw how Michael Grasso pulled off his last two illusions. :)

I noticed this as well. While he might be neat I think he is a little sloppy in performance. If he was to go to Vegas the other magicians would chew him up & spit him out. I saw David Copperfield here in Orlando and with the flawlessness of his performance and other performers in Vegas Michael Grasso just wouldn't cut it.

Thoughts on the 'final four'? Overall, I think the right choices were made. I won't say anything else in case people haven't watched yet.

I was very worried when the first pair was on stage! I couldn't believe either one was going home. I think they both should have been in the Final 4. I would have switched out with Jackie Evancho. She really is amazing but not Vegas material.

I love Prince Poppycock, but I hope Fighting Gravity wins. Does their act remind anyone else of the beginning of The Voyage of the Little Mermaid? Same principal, people in the background dressed in black and things in the foreground in neon. I think it's one of the reasons I love their act so much, besides being so amazing.

Agreed!

Fighting Gravity reminds me little of Mummenschanz. Anybody remember them?
