Do you use them for anything?
If so what?

Do you work for them?
If so do you like them?

Did you have them in the past?
Why do you not have them now?

What is good about them?
What is bad about them?

Why am I asking all these questions? I was referred to a sales rep from a gal I know who knew I was looking for part time work.

So where do I come for a wide range of opinions? THE DIS!

Bring it on folks, give me your opinions:woohoo:

No, we don't use them for anything. My BIL worked for them for a while and I'm pretty sure he never made a penny, but put in quite a bit of time (not sure if he had to spend any $$ to get started).

We had a woman come and talk to us about investing with them. She was very pushy and very annoying and the things she wanted us to do seemed like bad investments. This was years ago, though.

Just my 2 cents!

DH has a former coworker who went to work for them. We've gotten the mail and the "come sit down with me and let me tell you about what I can do for you" phone calls. We always politely decline. I know from talking to other of DHs coworkers, they all do the same. No one really takes them seriously. This gal could be fantastic but the company doesn't have the best reputation so even if she is great, she would have to work 5 times as hard to convince people to invest with her.

No idea how it works working for them...just passing on "the talk" from people who know someone who went to work for them.

This is discussed often on the Total Money Makeover boards and the unanimous answer is RUN!!!!

I have a college acquaintance who works for them and she was very high pressure with the girls who actually agreed to sit with her. Very off-putting.

It's basically your typical scheme where you have to recruit people to work under you to make any real money. There's no way I'd work for them. There's no way I'd trust my money with them either. They "hire" (I use that term loosely) anyone they can sucker in. I'm not handing over any of my investment money to an uneducated, unexperienced person.

I can't thank you all enough for your help. I think I shall pass on working for them. If so many folks from all over the country say it's a bad idea, then I am going with that.

I would like to speak up in favor of Primerica. I can understand people's objections to it. My ex-husband and I did work with Primerica for quite a while. Just like any profession, there will be good and bad people who work there. Although I do not work with the company any longer, I do still have investments with them. Sometimes the representatives are too pushy, but the company itself is very good.

If you do choose to work with Primerica, be aware that you must be able to be very self directed, and you will need to invest money, in order to make money (just like any business). You will also be encouraged to read positive books (like the Secret). If you work, you will make money, if you don't work, you won't.

You will find many people who do not like the company. I would say that for the most part, I learned a lot from Primerica, about finances and about myself.

As I said earlier, I no longer work with the company, so it makes no difference to me either way, if you choose to work with Primerica. I just thought you might want another perspective.

don't you think that is a decision you need to make for yourself?

I agree with you, but when you know nothing about a subject wouldn't you do some research? I did. I figured with such a wide selection of people to ask... I should do just that. The DIS has all different kinds of folks and what a better place to get great opinions. I am not just asking my friends or family, not just interet surffing, but asking people who could have had dealings with this company both good and bad.

I have a long time trusted friend in the financial planning business, When i told him I was asked to one of their "job fairs" he laughed and explained that they have a very limited array of product and try to fit all consumers into their product. Totally not what he does.

What i didn't like is that I was looking for a job with a boss and a set salary, not own your own business, your on your own kind of thing. When I was called to schedule my "interview" I was mis led. (I wasn't expecting to have to pay $200 for a job) I declined but people continue to call.

I didn't, but the choice is yours.
