I know that this was posted many times before, but I don't know how to search for it and I'm not really sure if it carried over from the old boards. In any event, what is the best strategy for securing week-long reservations during "prime time" at any of the DVC resorts? Thanks for your help.

Call every morning to reserve one more day as the 11 month window opens up.

Pretty simple, actually.

Calling every day is only needed on a few types of reservations. Grand Villas and standard view studios often require this method at anytime at all.

Christmas week is part of the "special seasons preference something-or-other", usually it doesn't even fil up with that list and the eleven month window can often be used to get a reservation.

Thanks, Rich. So you simply call each day and change your reservation from 1 to 2, 2 to 3, etc? That is easy. Thanks again for the help.;)

You call and make a reservation for one day; call the next and make a ressie for the next day, etc.; as you are going along or just at the end when done have MS link the ressies together. The only thing this has been needed for in the past is Grand Villas. For anything else, if you call 11 months before date of departure from WDW you are likely to always get what you want. The special seasons preference list for Christmas week is being done away with and for Christmas 2002 ressies will follow the usual 11/7 month reservation rules for that week. Perhaps Christmas time may end up requiring the call-every-day activity for some rooms other than GV's but that is unknown. Don't know what "prime" times you may be considering but note that we have had no trouble getting standard view at BWV 10 to 11 months out for Easter time. Also, "prime" Disney-in-general times are not necessarily prime DVC times. Summer is a high Disney time but a fairly easy time to get ressies even with the 7 month window at DVC. The first two weeks of December is "off-season" according to Disney in general but a very high DVC demand time.

Drusba, I am interested in the July 4th week for next year @ HH, which I understand can be very popular. I also may then follow up with a trip down to WDW for that weekend, so it concerns the July 4th timetable at 2 different DVC resorts. Thanks for your reply!!!:jester:

If you are going to call each day, to add a day, I"ve found the process works best if I tell the Member Services rep on the first call that I want to make a multi-day reservation and will be calling each day to add on. That way they somehow set the whole reservation detail up in the record with my preferences and don't treat it as a stream of separate one day reservations. This means that I only get one confirmation number, one written confirmation after I've made the last days call, and have a very easy process when I make the daily call.
